This position will require 3 days in our Centreville, VA office subject to change with future business needs.  What you’ll be doing: 
  • Perform statistical analysis on large, complex datasets, including Vehicle History and Vehicle Characteristics data, to derive meaningful insights that inform both tactical and strategic business decisions. 
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize business dashboards and reporting solutions using tools like SQL, Python, R, Cognos, and Tableau. 
  • Build and maintain a CARFAX Analytics Data Warehouse to support statistical modeling and machine learning for CARFAX BIG Analytics. 
  • Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources into the CARFAX Analytics Data Warehouse, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and consistency. 
  • Collaborate with actuaries, data scientists, and engineers to define data requirements, integrate new data sources, and create data models that support product development, data visualization, and reporting needs. 
  • Document data warehouse designs, processes, and standards, ensuring clarity and consistency with CARFAX practices. 
  • Work with BIG sales, analytics, and management teams to understand business requirements, translate them into analytic questions, and provide actionable recommendations. 
  • Mine and analyze data from internal company databases and external sources to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for growth, new product development, and product improvement. 
  • Present findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through clear and compelling visualizations and reports. 
  • Stay current with trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in the banking and insurance industry. Apply this knowledge to continuously improve BIG’s data analysis processes. 
 What we’re looking for: 
  • 3+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, data architecture, or a similar role with a proven track record of delivering actionable insights to drive business outcomes.  
  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) is a plus.  
  • Knowledge of the property-casualty insurance industry and familiarity with vehicle history data is a plus.  
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.  
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.  
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing business challenges. 
  • Proficiency in SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.  
  • Proficiency in database management and storage of large data files. Experience with data storage in AWS is preferred.  
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Cognos, Tableau, or Power BI.  
  • Experience with statistical software and programming languages such as R or Python.  
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex data concepts to non-technical audiences.
