Postdoctoral Project Researcher in Intelligent Equilibrium Blankets for Distributed Computing Continuum Systems (EqBlankets) project

We are seeking a researcher to contribute to the EqBlankets project. The primary responsibility will be to model distributed continuous computing systems using Service Level Objectives (SLOs). The role involves investigating the ability of SLOs to manage system requirements and developing machine learning and active inference algorithms to support both the design and execution of distributed computing systems. This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research in distributed computing.

The main tasks of the hired researcher do not involve project coordination; however, programming and testing will be required for the experiments to be developed as part of the research.

We are seeking a motivated researcher to contribute to the EqBlankets project, focusing on distributed continuous computing systems. The researcher will play a key role in modeling these systems using Service Level Objectives (SLOs), exploring their capacity to manage system requirements, and developing machine learning and active inference algorithms to support the design and execution of distributed computing systems.

Key Responsibilities:

        •        Develop models (statistical or machine learning-based) of agents for Cloud and Edge environments capable of managing and explaining the behavior of SLOs.

        •        Integrate business models into the Computing Continuum framework to enhance the applicability and scalability of developed solutions.

        •        Publish research findings in high-impact scientific journals and present results at international conferences.

        •        Prepare research proposals for national and international funding opportunities to expand the scope of related research lines.

        •        Deliver 30 to 40 hours of teaching annually at the Department of Engineering.

Selection criteria

1. Academic background: 10 points.

2. Professional experience/Adaptation to the proposed profile: 25 points.

3. Research experience supported by scientific publications: 20 points.

4. International mobility: 15 points

5. Participation and organization in conferences, workshops and other scientific dissemination events: 15 points

6. Teaching activities, both in undergraduate courses and mentoring of final undergraduate or master's projects: 15 points

The minimum score to pass the selection process is 75 points

SPECIFIC

Postdoctoral research experience in one (or more) of the following areas: Edge computing, Edge intelligence, deep learning. Research in IoT (Internet of Things), Robotics, and machine learning will also be positively valued.

Knowledge of continuous learning models such as reinforcement learning or active inference.

Knowledge of how cloud systems work, as well as the processes and tools used.

Excellent programming skills and knowledge of relevant programming languages ​​and development platforms (e.g., Python).

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Communication and interpersonal skills.

Good command of English, both written and spoken.
