Overview

GovCIO is currently hiring for a Senior Network Engineer to to lead a team of Network Engineers to provide IT infrastructure support to the 39th Information Operations Squadron. This position will be located at Hurlburt Field, Florida and will be an onsite within the United States position.

Responsibilities

Gathers information concerning the capabilities of Company products; investigates the technical capabilities of Company products and competing equipment and/or solutions; stays abreast of developments in hardware and software. Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and ensures requirements comply through formal verification methods. Translates high level product development strategies into network and system requirement specifications and works with other engineering disciplines to develop lower level detailed implementation requirements. Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the network and system development. Designs interfaces and brings network and system elements together so they work as a whole. Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures. Customer liaison and support for business development activities and to understand and shape requirements.

  • Coordinates the planning, design, and installation of equipment, using knowledge of engineering and programming as well as sophisticated instruments and computers
  • Participates in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts.
  • Installs all new hardware, systems, and software for networks.
  • Designs, creates, and builds network services, equipment and devices.
  • Generates system level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures.
  • Monitors system performance and implements performance tuning.
  • Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements.
  • Provide Non-Secure Internet Protocol Router (NIPR), Secure Internet Protocol Router (SIPR), and Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System (JWICS) network and system administration and maintenance capabilities to augment and support FTU staff.
  • Use creative problem-solving to design, architect, and develop high-end technology solutions that resolve complex and challenging problems on all FTU systems.
  • Identify potential problems that could arise from new technologies or system upgrades.
  • Create diagrams of computer network topologies that show how devices are connected.
  • Provide configuration/installation of devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls).
  • Perform network maintenance/system upgrades, including service packs, patches, hot fixes.
  • Harden network systems according to government or industry guidelines and best practices.
  • Monitor system performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
  • Design systems to ensure interoperability with existing systems and customer requirements.
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
  • Configuration/maintenance of routers, switches (Cisco), and firewalls (Palo Alto, Cisco).
  • Leads a team of network engineers.
  • Liaisons between the customer and the networking team.
  • Collects task data and reports to the Program Manager.
  • Prepares and submits documentation to the Program Manager.

Qualifications

High School with 6 - 9 years (or commensurate experience)

Required Skills and Experience

  • Clearance Required: TS/SCI
  • Extensive knowledge/expertise in developing and understanding network device configurations.
  • Proven hands-on network experience in DoD or commercial networking environment.
  • Ability to communicate technical recommendations/requirements to non-technical personnel.
  • Experience with monitoring, diagnostic, and analytics tools such as SolarWinds and Cisco ISE.
  • Ability to apply STIGs on devices to comply with Cybersecurity directives and requirements.
  • Comfortable with AD, DNS, DHCP, WSUS, WINDOWS SERVER, WINDOWS OS, Linux systems
  • Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, 802.1x)
  • Experience implementing VLANs, SVIs, VRFs, and static routing for network segmentation.
  • Proficient in configuration/maintenance of devices or applications such as authentication servers (RADIUS/TACACS), logging infrastructure or collection systems (SNMP/NETCONF).
  • Terminates and installs cabling to devices, patch panels, and cross-connects as needed.
  • Cisco CCNA Certification or higher.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience in configuring/monitoring Palo Alto Next Generation Firewalls.
  • Next-Generation Firewall Engineer certification.
  • Cisco CCNP certification or higher.
  • Experience with VMware NSX-T.
  • Knowledge of scripting Languages (JavaScript and Python).
  • Experience with Crestron Audio Video Technologies.

Posted Pay Range

 

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Posted Salary Range

USD $100,000.00 - USD $110,000.00 /Yr.
