Position Summary
As a Senior Solution Developer - BI, you will support a variety of projects by applying your GIS and analytical expertise to tasks such as data visualization, spatial analysis, data cleaning, and report generation. You’ll work directly with stakeholders to define project requirements, execute analyses, and interpret results into business recommendations. This role offers the opportunity to work with key tools like ArcGIS Pro and SQL Server (with spatial capabilities), while also having the chance to apply additional tools such as Power BI, Alteryx, or PostGIS.
Qualifications
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in GIS analysis or a related field.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, and SQL Server (with spatial functionalities).
- Experience with at least one additional tool among Power BI, Alteryx, QGIS, or PostGIS.
- Familiarity with Python is beneficial.
- Analytical & Business Skills:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights.
- Proven ability to manage projects independently and interact effectively with various stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions/Job Duties
- Spatial Analysis & GIS Operations:
- Conduct Complex Spatial Analyses: Use ArcGIS Pro and related software to analyze spatial patterns, perform network and drive-time analyses, and support site selection, market analysis, or resource allocation projects.
- Geospatial Data Management: Collect, process, and integrate geospatial data from various sources (e.g., Federal, State and Local Agencies) ensuring accuracy, consistency, and currency.
- Mapping & Visualization: Develop high-quality maps, dashboards, and interactive visualizations that clearly communicate spatial insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Data Management & Database Development:
- Database Administration: Design, build, and maintain spatial databases using SQL Server, ensuring robust performance and data integrity.
- Data Cleaning & Quality Assurance: Implement best practices in data validation, normalization, and metadata documentation to maintain high data quality standards.
- Automation & Scripting: Leverage Python or similar scripting languages to automate data processing workflows, streamline routine tasks, and enhance analytical capabilities.
- Project & Stakeholder Management:
- Requirements Gathering: Engage with business units, operations teams, and external clients to capture detailed project requirements and ensure that geospatial solutions meet business needs.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work alongside data scientists, solution developers, and business analysts to integrate spatial analytics into broader business intelligence initiatives.
- Reporting & Presentation: Prepare detailed technical reports and executive presentations that summarize findings, highlight key trends, and propose actionable recommendations.
- Project Oversight: Manage multiple projects concurrently—from planning and execution to post-project review—ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
- Tool Integration: Enhance your workflow by integrating additional tools (e.g., Power BI, Alteryx, QGIS, or PostGIS) to augment the spatial analysis process.
- Process Improvement: Continuously seek out and propose improvements to our geospatial methodologies and data management practices.
- Professional Development: Stay current with emerging trends, technologies, and industry best practices in GIS, remote sensing, and spatial data science.
