Senior Data Scientist

Description -

The AI&Automation team is responsible for coordinating all efforts implied to increase AI&Automation adoption across HP’s Commercial Organization, providing RPA/AI/ML solutions to business use cases.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, match with both traditional ML methods (forecasting algorithms, recommender systems) and Generative AI and large language models. and deploy solutions in real-world applications. Your expertise in AI algorithms, deep learning architectures, and advanced ML techniques will be crucial in driving innovative AI initiatives within the organization.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Increase the adoption of AI/ML technology within HP’s Commercial Organization by finding applicability of technology in real business challenges, and ensuring adoption of the solutions built
  • Collaborates with AI& Automation Product Owner to validate backlog priorities and whether similar solutions might be in place and could be scaled/ leveraged.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams: data scientists, data/cloud engineers, fe/be/RPA developers, and domain experts to make sure the business requirements for the identified AI opportunities are properly turned into viable and sustainable AI solutions that address the specific challenges and can be adopted
  • Engages with business stakeholders who need AI/ML solutions to understand the requirements and recommend the proper solution for their need, connects model results to business strategy, and produces recommendations that match business situation.
  • Oversees AI/ML initiatives funnel for Commercial Organization from a business architecture perspective and provides guidance and technical leadership.
  • Designs and implements models to discover patterns and predictions that generate business value and innovation. Develops and implements AI/ML models: from data preprocessing and feature engineering to ensure high-quality data inputs for AI models to model development and fine-tuning to address issues of overfitting or underfitting. Delivers performance evaluations and model validations to assess the effectiveness of the AI/ML models in our portfolio.
  • Leads complex cross-functional project, which involves several Data Scientists, and/or additional roles required.
  • Contributes actively to refine and keep relevant the AI& Automation learning path for all levels, from Explorer, Literacy to Fluency and Mastery
  • Communicates insights and recommendations: Presents findings, insights, and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner, adapted to business understanding. Translates complex technical concepts into actionable insights for non-technical audiences. Effectively collaborates with Managers, Directors, Executives.
  • Coaches team members, shares knowledge, and contributes to the growth and development of the CO AI& Automation Community. Can act as trainer for Community members in “Office Hours” meetings or via AI/ML support channel.
  • Stays updated with AI research and advancements: Keeps abreast of the latest trends, techniques, and research papers in the field of AI and machine learning. Continuously explores new algorithms and approaches to enhance the organization's AI capabilities.
  • Manages vendor/technologies identification and selection process when external solutions are required

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's, master's or Ph.D. degree in Mathematics, Economics, Physics, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • Typically, 6-10 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong expertise in AI algorithms, neural networks, deep learning architectures, and advanced machine learning techniques.
  • Relevant experience using statistics, mathematics, algorithms, and programming languages to solve business problems. Solid understanding of statistics, linear algebra, and calculus.
  • Experience with NLP, Large Language Models, LLM prompt engineering, vector databases, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), and search engines.
  • Experience with data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model development.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or TensorFlow.
  • Broader understanding of the AI landscape beyond just data science, including natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, and reinforcement learning.
  • Ability to define and create complex ML models to pull valuable insights, predictions, and innovation from data.
  • Proven track record of delivering successful AI projects or research work.
  • Familiarity with popular AI frameworks, libraries, and tools.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Proper understanding of digital industry trends (RPA, AI, ML) and their benefits.
  • Advanced communication skills (i.e. written, verbal, presentation) and collaboration skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively to tackle complex AI challenges.
  • Proven experience working in globally distributed virtual teams
  • Proficiency in English is a must
  • Leadership, consulting, influence, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the company top to bottom, including most senior company management.
  • Ability to effectively communicate data insights and negotiate options at senior management levels.
  • Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure successful AI/ML implementation.
  • Excellent program management, problem solving, and analytical skills, and the ability to execute a program within the scope of overall strategies.
