The Staff Scientist Computational Biology will interact closely with the core R&D team and collaborators and be responsible for the analysis and interpretation of complex biological datasets generated from our novel technology platform.
Essential Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary scientists to inform experiment design, data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
- Leverage machine learning and statistical methods to extract meaningful insights from large-scale biological datasets.
- Lead the analysis of multi-omic datasets and reporting of results to internal and external stakeholders.
- Present findings and contribute to project discussions and strategic decision-making.
- Support the development and optimization of analytical pipelines for processing multi-omic datasets generated by our technology.
Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD in quantitative field (bioinformatics, biology, computational/systems biology, physics, mathematics) with at least 3 years of experience; or equivalent experience and education.
- Demonstrated expertise in single-cell sequencing analysis, supported by a strong scientific background in single-cell biology.
- Strong background in molecular biology, cellular biology, genetics and/or biochemistry, with a solid understanding of biological principles and experimental techniques.
- Proficiency in R and Python, with expertise in data visualization libraries (e.g., ggplot2, seaborn) to generate clear, insightful visualizations for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to develop well-documented, version-controlled, reproducible code.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- This role requires an in-person presence at our office to foster collaboration.
- Up to 10% travel required for meetings, conferences, and/or customer engagements.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with developing novel, production-grade R/Python analysis packages, with a focus on useability and scalability, as well as contributing to existing tools with a growing user base.
- Experience with cloud computing, preferably AWS.
- Experience with analysis of flow cytometry and/or imaging data.
We provide competitive total compensation packages, including base pay, benefits, and equity. The estimated base salary range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000/year. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
