Data Modeler

The Data Modeler will drive, define, develop and maintain the conceptual, logical and physical data models, and support business terms creation/definition within the Glossary Hierarchy. He/she will act as a liaison between the business analysts and the development team. On one side he/she should be able to understand the end-user requirements and identify business needs; on the other hand, he/she should identify the golden source for each business term, model the business terms within the conceptual and logical models, create source to target mappings and find implementation options together with developers. At the end the solution will be presented for review & acceptance to both teams (business and developers).
 

The team

You will be working for finance and risk data warehouse within the department Group Services Finance & Risk/Data Foundation and report to the Data Modelling chapter. Depending on seniority exposure to the wider context in ING is expected. We hire for talent and expect you to show professional growth and will give you all the support you need.

Roles and responsibilities

If you have experience in data modelling, here is your chance to work in a professional environment as Data Modeler. You should be proficient in data modelling technics, understand the Entity-Relationship Data Modelling, be able to interpret logical and conceptual data models and to explain these models in a natural language. In order to deliver/review end to end solutions you should be able to use SQL language and understand what happens within an ETL job.

• Review Logical Data model
• Physical data modelling based on Logical data model
• Design and implement data model for optimal insgestion, historization and conspumotion
• Promote and support the usage of the data models in the ING organization (not only for DWH)
• Automation and validation of physical data modelling process
• Set up and maintain way of working, design principles, standards and guidelines for Data Modelling
• Collaborates with programmers, testers, other development teams and business users
• Accurately and concisely articulate issues, questions, recommendations to customers, team members, and management. Proactively identify issues and concerns
• Provides training, documentation and support for business user and other support lines.

What you bring to the team

• University degree in Computer Science or other related fields preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
• Experienced in agile way of working
• Experience at expert level in the role of Data Modeler in a Data Warehouse or reporting environment
• Experience in requirement engineering
• Experience as Senior DWH Developer, Solution Designer or Data Architect
• Expert level Knowledge of and experience with Data Vault, Dimension Modelling and other techniques
• Proven broad experience with data modelling tools and methods
• Working knowledge on Plant UML for class modelling
• Experienced in understanding and defining business terms
• Experience in the financial industry, especially experience with Accounting, Regulatory Reporting and Financial Risk functions
