Job Summary:

The main responsibility of the Analyst, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), is analyzing, interpreting, and ensuring the continuity of valid meter data from the end point into the AMI Head End System (HES) and Meter Data Management (MDM) Systems, with a focus on system performance, operational metrics, and data accuracy. This position is reporting to the Supervisor, Metering, the AMI Data Analyst will be an integral part of the Operations AMI team at LUMA.

Job Description:

  • Analyzes, evaluates and manipulates AMI data to derive actionable insights and supports data-driven decision-making. Ensures the continuous delivery of valid data, including daily interrogation of meter readings and Time-of-Use (TOU) configured meters for analysis and report creation.

  • Builds business cases and presentations to communicate findings and supports operational decisions.

  • Identifies and resolves data anomalies proactively, network risks, meter failures, tampering, and other data integrity issues.

  • Monitors AMI network devices’ communications, troubleshoot, and resolves issues in accordance with operating procedures.

  • Coordinates with field teams for remediation of defective or poorly communicating AMI devices.

  • Monitors alarms and events generated by smart meters and related systems (e.g., TWACS) to ensure timely response and resolution.

  • Recommends operational and system improvements to enhance AMI system performance and efficiency.

  • Identifies and suggests solutions for backfilling missing data and ensures the smooth operation of AMI systems.

  • Serves as a systems expert and provides formal recommendations to senior staff on improvements and best practices.

  • Works closely with internal teams to understand the diverse utility functions that rely on AMI data and ensures seamless integration.

  • Fields phone calls and provides guidance to field employees performing meter installations, replacements, and troubleshooting.

  • Oversees the fulfillment of remote connect/disconnect requests as needed.

  • Provides support for functional testing and diagnostics of AMI systems in the field.

  • Collaborates i projects related to AMI system improvements, ensuring deadlines are met and tasks are completed on budget.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Follows all policies and procedures.

  • Performs major storm restoration work and associated drills as assigned or needed.

Additional Job Description:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, information technology, economics, statistics, or related field. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a related field is required.

  • High school diploma and a minimum of ten (10) years of related experience in the utility industry.

  • Previous experience working with and combining large data sets.

  • Proficiency Microsoft Office Suite tools (Word, Power Point, Excel, Visio).

  • Proficiency in operational analysis and techniques (process mapping, SWOT analysis, data modeling).

  • Good understanding of programming languages (Python, R, SQL).

  • Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) and dashboard creation.

  • Ability to apply sound judgment to make decisions that balance technical feasibility, cost, and operational needs.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and integrity.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in both Spanish and English.
