With input and support from senior staff and faculty, this position will be directly involved in our fast-paced, innovative team effort to validate and launch new NGS assays for our patients and clinician partners.Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Implements: Algorithms and computer software for analyzing clinical genomics data sets; Project/Data management and analysis solutions that aid in the storage, investigation and dissemination of large data sets in a clinical environment.
Participates in developing hypotheses and experimental design including validations of new clinical NGS assays.
Evaluates commercial and academic bioinformatics software.
Coordinates translational research projects with other investigators and institutions.
Assists with reporting of methods, data and results for the lab's Quality Management Plan.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with standard bioinformatics tools and databases (e.g., Illumina DRAGEN, Manta, VEP, Strelka, BWA, GATK, VarScan, Freebayes, BEDTools, ClinVar, gnomAD, OncoKB).
- Familiarity with computing clusters (e.g., IBM LSF, Slurm), cloud computing services (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure), and containerization (e.g., Docker, Singularity).
- Proficiency with scientific programming languages (e.g., Python, R, Perl, Java), in a UNIX/Linux and/or Windows environment.
- Experience in a CAP-accredited, CLIA-licensed clinical laboratory or similar regulated environment (e.g., ISO/IEC, HIPAA, FDA).
- Knowledge of genomic reference materials, databases, and bioinformatics tools integral to NGS assay validation (e.g., NIST Genome-in-a-Bottle, GA4GH, hap.py, vcfeval, bcftools).
