In this position…

The Data Scientist will be both adept at using statistical methods to extract meaning from data within the context of a business environment, while being responsible for the technical aspects of developing systems and processes, to gather and display data. You will extract, aggregate, organize, analyze and interpret data from various sources. Deliverables will include dashboards, heat maps, reports, queries, presentations, all of which will be collaboratively developed with internal customer-colleagues. 

 

What you'll do...

  • Collaborate with Plant Leadership and production supervision to determine the descriptive and predictive data/statistical needs of the plant.
  • Design and create interactive dashboards, maps, apps and other modes of data collection, to provide the clearest possible real-time and trend visualizations of plant performance and issues.
  • Design, write, and test queries to access data and prepare standard, cadenced reports that are intuitive, widely understandable, and support timely, data-informed decision-making.
  • Provide ad hoc reports, optimization models, etc. to Plant Leadership to provide insight for specific decisions such as those related to the development of strategy and/or those that arise in response to extraordinary circumstances.
  • Develop, implement and automate databases and data collection systems, to efficiently and cleanly collect, compile, extract, and organize complex information from multiple systems. 
  • Monitor, maintain, troubleshoot and continuously improve all tools and reports created.
  • Train, support, and advise internal customer-users on use and interpretation of tools and reports created.

You'll have... 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in statistics, computer science, data science/analytics, business information systems, and/or related fields
  • 1+ years of experience

Even better, you may have experience...

  • As a Data Analyst or Business Data Analyst, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrating strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information
  • Developing mobile applications for data collection, preferably MS Power Apps.
  • Designing and building effective data visualizations/dashboards. 
  • Creating queries, data processes, and reports using SQL, Python and/or R.
  • Using statistical packages (such as Excel Solver, SPSS, Minitab, SAS, etc) to analyze datasets and communicating results to a lay audience.
  • In data exploration, extraction, cleaning, analysis, preparation, and presentation.
  • Troubleshooting intermediate or complex data questions.
  • Validating and auditing data.
  • Working with disparate sources of data and large databases.
  • Developing data models and database designs using data mining and segmentation techniques.
  • Leveraging predictive as well as prescriptive analytics utilizing mathematical modeling, and advanced regression methods
  • Using packages such as Tableau, Power BI, Qlik Sense and/or Qlik View.
  • Creating machine learning algorithms.
  • Using linear programming, optimization & simulations (Arena, etc)
  • Automating tasks with programming languages such as VBA or Python.
  • Working in XML, JavaScript, Alteryx, or ETL frameworks
  • Six Sigma and/or Lean training/experience
  • Programming languages such as Visual Basic, C#, C++, or HTML.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with an ability to cross-functionally convey complex ideas effectively.
  • Solid organizational skills and attention to detail.

This position is a range of salary grades 6, 7 and 8.
