Job Description

1.   Supporting Smart Factory Initiatives

IoT Device Evaluation, Onboarding and Monitoring

• Tasks:
  • Review the business needs and explore new IoT tools and devices that suits the business needs.
  • Propose IoT devices that suits business needs and perform evaluation
  • Configure and onboard selected IoT devices (e.g., mobile devices, AGVs, etc) to the network.
  • Monitor device performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
  • Document onboarding processes for repeatability.
• Business Impact:
  • Reduces downtime by ensuring quick deployment of IoT devices.
  • Improves operational efficiency and ensures reliable data flow for decision-making.
• Skills Learned:
  • IoT devices, protocols and platforms.
  • Troubleshooting networked devices.
  • Documentation best practices.

IoT Asset Management

• Tasks:
  • Collaborates with Information Security in performing IoT device assessment.
  • Assist InfoSec in identifying potential vulnerabilities.
  • Document best practices for securing IT-OT integration points.
• Business Impact:
  • Reduces cybersecurity risks in a highly interconnected environment.
  • Protects intellectual property and operational continuity.
• Skills Learned:
  • Network security basics (e.g., Device OS Platform, asset management, MDM, endpoint protection).
  • Understanding IT-OT cybersecurity challenges.
  • Security auditing and compliance.

Research and Feasibility Studies

• Tasks:
  • Explore new Industry 4.0 technologies & IoT tools.
  • Propose pilot projects based on feasibility studies.
• Business Impact:
  • Keeps the organization competitive with cutting-edge solutions.
  • Facilitates informed decision-making for IT investments.
• Skills Learned:
  • Research and technical evaluation.
  • Business case development.
  • Presentation and communication skills.

2.   Network Refresh Projects

• Tasks:
  • Assist Network and IT Operations team in planning, implementation and post implementation of Network refresh initiatives.
  • Document connectivity layouts and network configurations, where necessary.
  • Assist in setting up and testing network devices.
• Business Impact:
  • Improves visibility and reduces errors during refresh projects.
  • Speeds up troubleshooting by maintaining up-to-date network documentation.
• Skills Learned:
  • Basic understanding of network infrastructure.
  • Network equipment and its’ use cases.
  • Network protocol, basic troubleshooting skills.

3.   Simplification and Improvement Initiatives

Automation

• Tasks:
  • Write scripts to automate IT tasks E.g.: log analysis or device monitoring.
  • Test automation workflows for routine IT maintenance.
• Business Impact:
  • Saves time by reducing manual intervention.
  • Improves reliability and reduces human error in operations.
• Skills Learned:
  • Scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
  • Basics of process automation.
  • IT operations efficiency strategies.

Standardization

• Tasks:
  • Assist in developing SOPs for IT processes like troubleshooting IT tools and networks.
  • Create templates for IT documentation.
• Business Impact:
  • Ensures consistency and reduces operational errors.
  • Speeds up onboarding of new team members or vendors.
• Skills Learned:
  • SOP creation and process standardization.
  • Writing clear and actionable documentation.

4.   IT Operational Support

Level 1 User Support

• Tasks:
  • Provide first-level support for MFG IT Operations.
  • Document common user issues and resolutions.
• Business Impact:
  • Reduces downtime by resolving issues promptly.
  • Enhances user adoption of new technologies.
• Skills Learned:
  • Communication and troubleshooting skills.
  • User training and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

• Current student, pursuing Bachelor in Computer Science or related field.  
• Knowledge in C, Object-oriented programming (e.g. C++, Python), Data Structure, Algorithms. Multi-threaded programming. 
• Knowledge in Windows Operating Systems (Windows 10, Windows 11)
• Ability to rapidly learn new technologies
• Capable of quickly learning new firmware, hardware, systems, tools, and methodologies.  
• You have strong aptitude and penchant for problem solving, algorithm design, and complexity analysis. 
• You have excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication.  
• You are comfortable and enjoy working in a dynamic and ever evolving environment.  
• You can be a fun and enthusiastic teammate who enjoys challenges and celebrates successes.  
• Self-motivated to work both supervised and unsupervised as part of the team. 

PREFERRED

• Knowledge in network and communications.

SKILLS: 

Would be an added advantage if you have: 

• Knowledge in data analytics, data visualisation, machine learning.
• Good understanding of Agile practices..
