Job Summary
The Director of Data and Analytics plays a pivotal role in shaping the organization's data strategy, delivering actionable insights, and driving data-informed decision-making. This position is responsible for leading the design, development, and optimization of data visualization and reporting solutions using Google Looker and managing enterprise-scale data solutions in Snowflake.
The Director will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the alignment of analytics initiatives with business goals. This includes developing new features and functionality, maintaining existing systems, and supporting the organization’s evolving analytics needs. A successful candidate will bring expertise in SQL, data systems analysis, and integrating diverse data sources, with additional skills in Python, machine learning, or similar technologies considered a plus
Job Responsibilities
- Data Modeling: Design, develop, and maintain robust data models that support business requirements and enhance data quality and accessibility.
- Google Looker Development: Lead the development and optimization of Google Looker dashboards and reports to provide actionable insights and support data-driven decision-making.
- Data Warehouse Performance Management: Oversee the performance, scalability, and reliability of the data warehouse, ensuring efficient data storage, retrieval, and processing.
- Snowflake Expertise: Utilize advanced knowledge of Snowflake to manage and optimize the cloud data platform, ensuring seamless integration and data flow.
- Analytics Reporting: Define and implement best practices for analytics reporting, ensuring that reports are accurate, insightful, and aligned with business objectives.
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of data professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand their data needs and deliver solutions that drive business value.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with the company’s goals and objectives.
- Data Quality Assurance: Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across all systems and reporting platforms.
- Migration Leadership: Lead efforts to migrate or enhance reporting functionality from Looker Studio to Google Looker as needed.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, a related technical discipline, or comparable industry experience.
- Minimum 10 years of IT experience, with at least 3 years in a director role
- Proven experience in data modeling, data warehouse management, and analytics reporting.
- Extensive experience with SQL, Snowflake, and data visualization tools and techniques.
- Advanced proficiency in Google Looker, including building complex reports, dashboards, and LookML models.
- Expertise in integrating diverse data sources and ensuring seamless functionality.
- Proven experience in managing the performance, scalability, and reliability of data warehouses.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Proven data and systems analysis skills.
- Excellent organizational, collaboration, and planning abilities.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
- High sense of ownership, responsibility, and commitment to quality.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet shifting deadlines.
- Experience with Python/R and machine learning is a plus.
- Knowledge of the facilities management industry is a bonus but not required.
- Energetic self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and fosters a culture of continuous learning.
