Job Description Summary:

As a Software Engineer, You would be joining an agile team, consisting of Software & QA Engineers based in Vilnius and abroad. This team will be working on projects encompassing DBMS and related tools specifically in the NoSQL area.

The Software Engineer designs, develops, troubleshoots, and debugs software programs for software enhancements and new products. Develops software tools including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools. Determines software’s compatibility with hardware and/or influences software's design in relation to hardware. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Mastery of hardware and software systems.

• Proficient at complex programming, exercising independence and discretion while working independently or as part of a team.

• May interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications.

• Write commercial/enterprise-grade software with minimal or no help required.

• Act as the subject matter expert within the current product domain

• Proficient at complex programming exercising independence and discretion while working independently or as part of a team.

• May lead a team on short term projects as needed.

• Act as the technical subject matter expert for a product domain and may act as the technical leader within a team.

• Works independently to create new features, implement software enhancements, correct defects.

• Documents and communicates on technical topics outside the immediate development team

• May interact with customer users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications

• History of success working within a team environment

Required Qualifications:  

• Proficient in C/C++ programming languages with at least 8 years of C/C++ development experience.

• Software architecture capability, capable of independently designing and developing new features.

• Proficient in fundamental database concepts, such as ACID properties, indexing techniques, query optimization and execution plans, transactions, and concurrency control. Particularly in the context of high availability and disaster recovery.

• Proficient in basic knowledge of operating systems, including memory management, process/thread management, network programming, File I/O and File Systems, System Libraries and APIs (POSIX), Networking and Security, Signal/Daemon/Resource limitation.

• Proficient in commonly used data structures, such as Queue, Linked Lists, Hash Tables, Trees, with practical experience in project applications.

• Proficient in commonly used algorithms, such as Searching algorithms, Sorting algorithms, Hashing algorithms, with practical experience in project applications.

• Proficient in compiler design principles, with practical experience in designing and developing actual compilers.

• Proficient in commonly used C/C++ language debugging tools and techniques. Mastery of rich operating system kernel-level diagnostic tools, capable of diagnosing and locating complex issues at the OS kernel level.

• Proficient in C/C++ project organization, with the ability to independently organize large-scale C/C++ engineering projects.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Capable of independently analyzing and resolving issues.

• Rich experience in application performance optimization.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Background support in multi-value databases. Highly desirable: experience in the development of database kernels.

• Some knowledge in the data industry, staying abreast of technological advancements in the database field.

• Experience in the development, maintenance, or performance tuning of open-source database kernels.

• Familiarity with other programming languages or technologies, such as Python, Java, HTTP protocols, Client-server architecture, XML, JSON.

• Knowledge in the security domain, including data encryption and authentication authorization.

• Knowledge in distributed systems theory.

• Experience in cloud-based database technologies and their integration with on-premises database.

• Working experience in an Agile environment (JIRA/Confluence experience is a plus)

• Experience in open-source AI platforms such as Hugging Face

• Experience in designing, developing, fine-tuning and deploying GPT based LLMs.

Annual salary range for this position is between €52,500.00 - €97,500.00 gross before taxes.

Salary range applies only to candidates in Lithuania

Salary offer for the candidate is determined based on the predefined salary ranges for the position and depends on the level of competence and experience of the candidate.
