Senior Data Analyst

About the role:

As Senior Data Analyst, you will play a crucial role in transforming raw data into actionable insights, that drive strategic decision making within an organization. You will push the organization towards data driven decision making.  You will take real world issues and develop data analysis that quantify the problem and inform the solution, considering the numerous variables that can affect Service.  You will drive the modernisation of our reporting tools, moving the business forward to PowerBI and Azure ML. 

You will also be responsible for :

• Analysis, interpretation and presentation of data to provide strategic insights and problem-solving expertise. Use analytical tools to facilitate the delivery of world class customer service and develop the Baxi’s commercial potential.
• Manipulate large datasets and model data in order to perform statistical analysis and forecast operationally and commercially.
• Develop systems understanding, to obtain an understanding of our data capture and to deliver continuous improvement within the operation.
• Share expertise with the wider team on use of MS Azure, BI (Cognos and PowerBI) and other analytical tools. Mentor more junior members of the team and the wider Baxi team to improve their insight, and coach on their technical and presentation skills.

On a daily basis your responsibilities will be:

• To support Baxi in advancing in its use of predictive analytics: data manipulation, finding and prioritizing key variables, statistical analysis, forecasting and modelling.
• Complete complex data analysis with a variety of purposes for the business, including increasing knowledge of the operation or customers, reviewing marketing campaigns, by the assigned deadline.
• Clear communication with stakeholders, from understanding their business area, issues and requirements, to presenting analysis (pitched to the audience) and recommendations for improvements based on the results of analysis.
• Provide specifications for reporting and/or analysis to be completed by internal or external third parties.
• To perform adhoc analysis of data to find the root cause of issues. Including thinking of new, inventive ways of using currently available data to answer new questions.
• To audit internal processes and quality assure reporting honestly and without bias.  To understand process adherence and to validate whether data is fit for purpose, including suggesting entirely new processes when appropriate.
• To create new MI reports for the management team.
• Provision of accurate and current engineer & call agent capacity forecasts to inform operational budgets.
• To support in the specification and testing of new Business Systems, especially relating to data/reporting requirements.
• To be an advocate for the importance of data quality and data driven decision making.
• To build strong relationships with different functions.
• Be an expert in Baxi I.T. systems and software.
• Mentor and support more junior members of the team with their work and skills.  Quality assurance of reports delivered by junior members of the team and the wider Baxi team.
• Manage data analyst team and workload
• Provides project Management for projects allocated, including scoping, planning, progressing, resource coordination, developing schedules, documentation, time estimation, activity sequencing and management reporting, and risk management.
• Has the ability to motivate and lead a team to ensure high performance and collaboration.
• Liaising with customer/suppliers (both internal and external) to identify and define project/analysis requirements, scope, objectives, and delegation of work packages.

About you:

Essential:

• A high level of numeracy, accuracy and the ability to extract and analyse data in order to carry out forecasting and trend analysis.  The ability to convert a business requirement in to the fundamental mathematical question
• The ability to use MS Excel to a very advanced level
• The ability to use MS Access, and PowerBI to an intermediate level
• Experience of communicating the results of complex analysis to an audience with varying levels of understanding.
• Experience of analysing and joining data from disparate systems/sources.
• A pragmatic approach to data analysis/margins of error, where the business need is the fundamental requirement
• Educated to degree level in a discipline related to statistics or data analysis.
• Good team working skills and proven ability to positively influence within teams and with individuals at all levels.

Advantageous:

• The ability to use SQL, Cognos BI and MS Azure ML to an intermediate level
• Experience of an operational environment and a customer service environment
• High levels of literacy and accuracy are desirable.
• Experience of specifying, planning and seeing through to completion analysis projects, especially self-directed or largely unsupervised. 
• Coaching experience
• A working knowledge of Prince2 or equivalent.
• Self-motivation and organisational ability to prioritise activities to effectively optimise personal and project performance.
• Process mapping  and continuous improvement experience/ training.
