Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Data Scientist who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Naples, Pistoia, Genova, Piossasco, Tito, Reggio Calabria

Mission

In this role, you’ll have the chance to roll up your sleeves and apply data science methods and analytics to real-world business situations across a variety of industries. Successful candidates are intellectually curious builders who are biased toward action, single-minded, and communicative.

 

Accountabilities

 

TECHNICAL

• Programming - (e.g. Matlab, R, Python, SAS, Scala, Octave) 
• Knowledge of C / C++, Java languages
• Knowledge of data analysis with major business intelligence tools (e.g. Alterix, Tableau, Meridian, Qlik, PowerBI, …)
• Ability to select best algorithm and develop model
• Writing High Quality code
• Knowledge of Big Data framework like Spark and Hadoop
• Knowledge in AI and IOT
• Machine Learning:
• Optimization (Linear / Convex / ...)
• Supervised learning (Random Forest Tree, Gradient Boosting, ...)
• Operative research / Network optimization
• Monte Carlo simulation and Stochastic optimization
• Sampling and hypothesis testing
• Dimensional reduction (PCA / IFA / ...)
• Natural Language Processing
• Text mining and social network analysis

• Relation capability: work with key stakeholders to generate hypotheses and models that allow to translate customer data sets into strategic business insights

• Foster innovation: identify new analytics trends and opportunities to drive the innovation agenda

Required Skills/ Knowledge

• PhD or Master’s Degree in computer science, applied mathematics, statistics, machine learning, or other data centric disciplines with 2-5 years of relevant industry work experience providing advanced analytics solutions strongly preferred.
• Strong record of extracurricular activity, professional accomplishment, and leadership
• Additional experience in core analytic methods such as predictive modeling, customer segmentation/clustering, network analysis, supply chain optimization, etc.
• Fluency in at least one scripting language (e.g. Python, R)

 

Languages

 

Fluency in Italian and in English is required
