Job Description:

Reporting within the Strategy & Analytics team, the Data Analyst is responsible for reviewing large quantities of data to help generate value for a variety of functions, develop enhanced personalized reporting, produce innovative and effective methods of analyzing data using a variety of mathematical models, performing ongoing and periodic analysis of SLGI’s block of business, and testing and reporting related to sales activity across our various sales partners.

What will you do?

  • Data engineering and pipeline management (Data ingestion, ETL management)
  • Create stock reporting for internal audiences
  • Work with stakeholders to understand data needs and provide actionable solutions
  • Ensure data accurate, integrity, and consistency across databases and reporting systems

What will you need to succeed?

  • 3-5 years of experience in related data analytics and report building roles.
  • Successful completion of B.Sc. Computer Science, Mathematics, Stats, Engineering or applicable program.
  • Strong research, problem solving, and analytical skills.
  • Proven experience with AWS
  • Excellent communications skills to provide simplified explanations of complex analytical methodologies.
  • Strong Mutual Fund and Market Based Insurance product knowledge.
  • Keen aptitude for learning new programs and programming languages quickly
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Experience balancing multiple projects.
  • Knowledge of data governance principles and processes

What will be nice to have?

  • Knowledge of the investment operations lifecycle, including trade processing, settlement, reconciliation, portfolio accounting, and compliance.
  • Strong experience and knowledge of individual financial service industry on a greater scale (knowledge of mutual funds, segregated funds, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), SMAs, etc.)
  • Experience with Python, R, Tableau
  • Experience with CRM tools or Salesforce specifically

Unique requirements:

  • Some travel may be required.
  • Extra hours may be required during the quarter-end reporting periods and during periods with high mutual fund trading volumes.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
