You will provide technical contributions to the data science process. In this role, you are the internally recognized expert in data, building infrastructure and data pipelines/retrieval mechanisms to support our data needs

How you will contribute

You will:

  • Operationalize and automate activities for efficiency and timely production of data visuals
  • Assist in providing accessibility, retrievability, security and protection of data in an ethical manner
  • Search for ways to get new data sources and assess their accuracy
  • Build and maintain the transports/data pipelines and retrieve applicable data sets for specific use cases
  • Understand data and metadata to support consistency of information retrieval, combination, analysis, pattern recognition and interpretation
  • Validate information from multiple sources.
  • Assess issues that might prevent the organization from making maximum use of its information assets

The Role:

As a HR Data Engineer - Data Visualization Manager, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust data pipelines and visualization solutions that empower our business stakeholders to make informed decisions based on data-driven insights. You will lead a team of data engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of data-driven solutions.  You will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between data and insights, translating complex data into easily digestible and actionable visual narratives.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain efficient and scalable ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and loading data from various sources (e.g., databases, APIs, cloud storage) into data warehouses and data lakes.
  • Develop and maintain data models, ensuring data quality, integrity, and consistency across all data sources.
  • Implement data governance policies and procedures to ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with industry regulations.
  • Optimize data pipeline performance and efficiency through code refactoring, performance tuning, and utilizing best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline issues, ensuring timely and accurate data delivery.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into compelling visualizations/ dashboards that provide insights and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, that meet specific business needs.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends and best practices in data visualization, proactively researching and implementing new techniques and tools to enhance storytelling capabilities.
  • Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, providing technical guidance, performance feedback, and career development opportunities.
  • Contribute to the hiring and onboarding of new team members, ensuring they are effectively integrated into the team and equipped for success.
  • Set team goals, manage workload, and prioritize projects to ensure efficient and effective delivery of data solutions.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment that encourages knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous learning.

Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of solid experience in data engineering with a proven track record of building and maintaining scalable ETL data pipelines.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, Scala, and SQL.
  • Expertise with different ETL processes, including data cleaning, transformation, and loading.
  • Experience with data warehousing technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery) and data lakes (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Data Lake).
  • In-depth knowledge of data pipeline tools and frameworks (e.g., Spark, Kafka, Airflow, Flink).
  • Experience in applying generative AI techniques using open-source LLMs to solve for use-cases in people analytics.
  • Strong Expertise in data visualization tools and techniques, with experience using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or D3.js.
  • Ability to create compelling and impactful data visualizations that effectively communicate complex data insights.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into actionable insights for non-technical audiences.
  • Proven leadership skills, with experience managing and mentoring a team of data engineers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with team members, stakeholders, and clients.
  • Ability to effectively delegate tasks, provide constructive feedback, and motivate team members to achieve shared goals.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with machine learning or AI technologies.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure) and cloud-based data services.
  • Experience with prompt engineering to solve for use cases.
  • Experience with data governance and security practices.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer, Databricks/PySpark Certification, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Tableau /Power BI Certified Professional).
