As a System and Software Optimization Engineer  - Undergrad Intern, you will be focused on AI Research for Silicon, your work will center on leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance silicon performance, efficiency, and innovation. Dive deep into AI-driven methodologies to optimize architecture, enablement, and product development processes. Your role will involve pioneering research in applying machine learning algorithms to solve critical challenges in silicon hardware, such as power and performance optimization, functional validation, and advanced design techniques. This opportunity will place you at the forefront of AI research, driving transformative advancements in semiconductor technology.

In this role, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Research and Development: Innovate and develop state-of-the-art machine learning hardware accelerator architectures and designs, pushing the boundaries of current technology.
  • Comprehensive Solutions: Provide a holistic view of solutions, supporting both pre- and post-silicon activities across multiple domains to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
  • Systems Innovation: Lead initiatives to enhance model efficiency for both edge and cloud deployments, driving systems innovations that cater to diverse deployment scenarios.
  • Architecture Exploration: Conduct rigorous, in-depth workload-driven architecture exploration and design optimization using both IP-level and system-level simulation and emulation techniques.
  • Collaboration and Analysis: Work closely with product and algorithm teams to analyze next-generation requirements and opportunities, guiding research and academic collaboration in AI and ML.
  • Platform Research: Engage in platform research activities in ML, exploring areas such as compute in memory, on-device learning, edge-cloud distributed learning, and quantum ML.
  • Performance and Power Modeling: Develop complex performance and power models using ML/AI techniques, collecting and analyzing design performance and power data on pre- and post-silicon platforms through simulation, emulation, and the development of enabling firmware, software, tools, and automation solutions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with various teams, including customer-facing and architectural design teams, to explore and validate the performance and power of next-generation silicon products for Intel product teams.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in any STEM related field with 3+ months of knowledge or experience in the areas of computer architecture, digital design and ML/AI (like generative AI).

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Candidates with a robust academic research experience, and publications in systems and AI/ML.
  • Strong interest of the candidate’ advisor to partner with Intel on foundational research that can lead to industrial impact is considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in the US:

$40,000.00-$108,000.00

Salary range dependent on a number of factors including location and experience.

Work Model for this Role

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. * Job posting details (such as work model, location or time type) are subject to change.
