Swarm Intelligence Engineer (m/w/d) – Adaptive Algorithms for Autonomous UAV Swarms

Your mission

• Develop bio-inspired swarm intelligence algorithms for autonomous UAV coordination, inspired by insect colonies, bird flocks, and distributed AI systems
• Design real-time decentralized control strategies for UAVs, enabling autonomous decision-making in contested environments
• Implement multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL), flocking behaviors, and self-organizing systems for adaptive UAV swarms
• Optimize collision avoidance, task allocation, and swarm formation strategies under dynamic mission constraints
• Develop AI-powered communication protocols for resilient UAV coordination in GPS-denied and electronic warfare (EW) environments
• Integrate swarm intelligence with sensor fusion, edge computing, and distributed AI models
• Conduct HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) and SIL (Software-in-the-Loop) testing for real-world validation
• Ensure compliance with military and aerospace standards (MIL-STD, ITAR, NATO STANAGs, UAV autonomy regulations)

Your profile

• 5+ years experience in multi-agent systems, swarm robotics, or distributed AI
• Expertise in reinforcement learning, evolutionary algorithms, and decentralized control models
• Proficiency in Python, C++, or Rust, with experience in AI frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, RLlib)
• Strong knowledge of graph-based AI models, flocking algorithms (Boids, Vicsek Model), and adaptive behavior strategies
• Experience with ROS2, DDS, or real-time swarm communication frameworks

• Experience in military UAV swarm applications and counter-swarm strategies
• Background in neuromorphic AI and nature-inspired computation
• Knowledge of quantum swarm optimization and AI-driven emergent behavior modeling
