Sr. Manager, Data Engineering & IT Applications

This Is What You’ll Do:

  • Manage data engineering team to produce data products for both on-premises data warehouse and cloud data platform.
  • Manage data operations team to ensure availability, reliability, accuracy, and performance of on-premises databases and cloud data platform.
  • Manage IT application engineering team to deliver and support custom and off the shelf applications.
  • Plan, design, implement new systems, enhancements to existing systems, or upgrades of existing systems while assuring compliance with SOP and regulatory requirements.
  • Define, develop, and manage external relationships with vendors or service providers.
  • Work with regulatory team to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and assume primary responsibility for SOP updates, IT documentation, and quality control for IT Change Control submissions related to data and application engineering.
  • Implement best practices in assigned areas and ensure that all core IT functions are fully documented, supportable, and in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Ensure systems are kept at current software levels and evaluate the costs/benefits of upgrades for applications.
  • Provide a leadership example to team members and provide feedback, training plans, and motivation to drive overall performance improvement in IT service delivery.
  • Manages assigned staff and other roles as required. This includes recommendations for hiring, personnel administration, and recommendations for annual salary increases.

          This Is What It Takes:

          • Bachelors Degree in Information Technology or related field of study, or equivalent industry qualifications.
          • Five (5) years of management experience. Minimum of eight (8) years of experience leading Development and Support teams in a regulated environment.
          • Experience with ETL tools and procedures.
          • Extensive experience with SQL Server database tools and database administration tasks.
          • Demonstrated experience in a regulated environment.
          • Expert understanding of Application Lifecycle Management (ALM).
          • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills.
          • Demonstrated flexibility to changing priorities.
          • Will be required to work outside of Normal Business hours, primarily in the event of an emergency or implementation of new systems/upgrades which will need to be done after hours.
          • Extensive experience in the development and presentation of technical material to non-technical leaders.
          • Solid understanding of data warehouse / lake design, development, and support.
          • Experience in the design and management of effective change control systems.

          PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

          • Position works in-office at the Corporate location
          • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
          • Ability to use a computer and other office equipment
          • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds
          • Ability to reach, bend, and stoop as necessary
          • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
          • Ability to focus and concentrate on tasks for extended periods
          • Ability to navigate the office environment safely, including stairs and elevators if applicable
          • Ability to travel up to 25% via airplane or vehicle
