About the Team:

Huawei Canada's Advanced Optical Technology Lab focuses on advanced R&D in high-performance optical communications and networking. Our expert team specializes in transmission algorithms, systems, physics, and optical network management. The lab engages in projects ranging from deep research to developing key product features, actively participating in standards organizations and collaborative research with partners. About the Job:

  • Develop and apply AI technologies to improve the performance, efficiency, and reliability of optical networks.

  • Design and implement AI-based algorithms and models for key tasks such as optical network optimization, fault prediction, and resource allocation.

  • Analyze optical network data, explore potential rules, and propose innovative AI solutions.

  • Work with the optical network team to understand business requirements and effectively integrate AI technologies into existing systems and processes.

  • Track the latest technology trends in the AI and optical communication fields, and continuously optimize and improve existing solutions.

  • Write technical documents and participate in internal technical sharing and external academic exchanges.

  • Lead or participate in cross-department projects to promote the wide application of AI technologies in the optical network field.

Requirements

About the ideal candidate:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or related fields.

  • Profound theoretical foundation and practical experience in the AI field, including but not limited to Generative AI, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Reinforcement Learning.

  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python and rich experience in data processing and algorithm development.

  • Basic understanding of optical network technologies, including but not limited to optical fiber transmission, wavelength division multiplexing, and optical switching.

  • Good problem-solving capabilities and innovative thinking, able to work independently in complex environments; Excellent communication and teamwork skills, able to effectively collaborate with team members from different backgrounds.

  • Experience in optical communication or network optimization projects is an asset.

  • Familiarity with mainstream AI frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch is an asset.

  • Record of published academic papers in related fields, or participation in related scientific research projects are an asset.
