About the role

• As a Staff Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and scaling our platforms, ensuring they are robust, maintainable, and high-performing. This role requires deep technical expertise, a strong ability to solve complex system-wide problems, and a track record of successfully scaling distributed systems. You will also be responsible for leading technical initiatives that impact multiple teams, collaborating cross-functionally to drive engineering excellence across the organization.
• About the team: QRM (Quality Risk Management) is the core customer-facing product at Inspectorio, powering quality assurance operations for global retail giants. It's a comprehensive platform that enables brands and retailers to digitize their quality control processes, from inspection planning to defect management. The system handles critical workflows including lab testing, inline inspections, and automated risk assessment, helping customers make data-driven decisions about their supply chain

What you'll do

• Architect & Scale: Design and optimize highly scalable and resilient systems, ensuring they meet performance and reliability requirements as our platform grows.
• System Design Expertise: Drive the architecture of complex systems, making critical decisions on system design, data modeling, and infrastructure.
• Cross-Team Leadership: Lead large-scale technical initiatives that span multiple teams and functions, ensuring alignment with company goals.
• Platform Optimization: Improve the performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency of our platform by optimizing infrastructure, databases, and application architecture.
• Technical Vision & Strategy: Influence and drive long-term technical strategies, ensuring the engineering team builds for future scale and sustainability.
• Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing: Provide technical mentorship to engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high performance.
• Operational Excellence: Ensure best practices in software engineering, including CI/CD, observability, testing strategies, and incident management.
• Security & Compliance: Work closely with security teams to ensure our systems are compliant with industry standards and best practices.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong track record in system design, architecture, and scaling distributed systems. Knowledge on Python and Django is a plus.
• Proven experience in successfully solving complex scaling challenges in production environments.
• Expertise in designing and optimizing large-scale, high-traffic systems and backend infrastructure.
• Experience with observability, monitoring, and performance tuning of distributed systems.
• Deep understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and other OOP principles such as SOLID and GRASP.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, API-first approach, and microservices architecture.
• Proficient in working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar.
• Experience with asynchronous programming and related frameworks like Celery.
• Proficient with version control systems, particularly Git.
• Deep understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), containerization, and microservices architecture.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Great communication skills, in English, both written and verbal.
• Ability to mentor and guide senior engineers, fostering technical growth within the team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a fast-growing startup or high-scale product environment.
• Experience leading cross-team technical initiatives that drive impact at an organizational level.
• Deep knowledge of database optimization, caching strategies, and event-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with machine learning infrastructure, DevOps, or security best practices.
• Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in technical communities.
