Opportunity to join a growing team as we expand our services and reach across a broad organization. The successful candidate will be acting as the primary contact for data visualization needs serving our largest internal customer. Our team of data analysts and engineers provides visualization services across a myriad of business lines and products in support of the H.W. Kaufman group of companies. As a centralized IT function, we are uniquely positioned to engage with stakeholders, vendors, and executive leaders from enterprise portfolio lens. Our team supports reporting and analytics, financials, creating and improving dashboards, and external data augmentation and enrichment for our advanced analytics partners. Our engineers and analysts write SQL queries to extract data from the data warehouse and translate data concepts and standards into visualizations, metrics, and goals. We creatine high quality technical and end-user documentation by collaborating with internal team members and business partners.
This role is an integral member of the Data Management team responsible for empowering business decisions. We implement technology solutions in a cost-effective manner by determining the requirements of a project or program, leading or participating in the requirements gathering and solution design, and implementation. Through ongoing growth, H.W. Kaufman senior leaders and business units continue to expand their needs for accessible insights, division-level KPIs and metrics, and cross-platform aggregated analytics.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for front-line communication with our largest internal client, responsible for over 70% of data generation for Kaufman. This represents a large segment of our existing and planned growth of business intelligence service offerings.
- Participate in every stage of the software development and/or implementation lifecycle, from analysis and design through testing, release, and maintenance
- Coordinate aggregate analytics and reporting requirements and communications with business partners, vendors and third parties
- Participates in logical and/or physical design of data sets, cache, and performance tuned analytics
- Gather, translate, and document business requirements
- Debug and triage data visualizations using technical skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor/Master’s degree in computer science, information technology, or equivalent work experience
- 7+ years in Information Technology and business/industry
- 7+ years working on moderate-to-complex analytics platforms
- Demonstrated skill in data visualizations, including SAP Business Objects
- Demonstrated skill in data research and analysis
- Understanding of performance tuning of large data sets in support of a business function’s suite of analytics
- Strong T-SQL experience required
- Conversion of business and functional requirements to use cases, epics, and stories with acceptance criteria
- Provide systems and data integration designs based on requirements
- Comfortable with relational and Data Warehouse designs, operability, and analysis
- Testing stages through the SDLC and capability to write and execute test plans and cases and publish expected output criteria
- Tableau experience is a plus
- Ability to deliver on multiple tasks within a sprint
- Agile/Lean methodologies experience preferred
- Proficiency in combination of the following skills:
- Creation of dimensional and drill-through analytics
- Authoring and interpreting of structured query language (SQL)
- Understanding of KPI metrics-driven analytics and presentation of same
- Sourcing and landing data in a manner congruent with developing performant downstream analytics for broad user base.
- Communication with stakeholders on status throughout the SDLC
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to explain data aggregation, slices, pivots, and role-based security in business terms
