Lead Technical Engineer (AI/ML)

Overview

FedWriters is building a team to mature, operate, maintain and enhance the United States Security and Exchange Commission's (SEC) production OIT AIML (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning) Tech Foundation and its hosted production pilot products, implement AIML governance services, and establish model metrics evaluation and risk management frameworks. In this role you will architect and oversee the technical implementation of AI/ML solutions while leading development teams in building and maintaining scalable machine learning systems using AWS services like SageMaker, Bedrock, and other FedRAMP-authorized tools.

**This position is contingent upon contract award**

Work Schedule and Location:

Hybrid: This full-time hybrid position will work Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, with occasional onsite work in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and optimization of AIML algorithms
• Oversee pilot project implementation and support
• Drive Generative AI R&D initiatives
• Provide technical consultancy and prototype development
• Build and enable technical knowledge sharing across teams
• Implement risk management strategies
• Demonstrate business value to Division/Office stakeholders

Qualifications

• Must have demonstrated recent experience (within past 3 years)
• Minimum 12 months performance in similar roles
• Federal agency AIML experience required
• SEC domain experience preferred
