Sr Software Engineer (Python)

What's the role?

 

In this role of a Senior Software Engineer, you will design and develop backend systems, manage databases, and ensure efficient data flow to support high-performance analytics and scalable solutions across the organization. In addition you will:

 

• Design and architect state-of-the-art testing processes using modern techniques, tools, and pipelines for all HERE products and features, with a focus on leveraging Python and strong SQL skills to automate and optimize test validation.
• Execute data engineering activities in collaboration with the E2E Product Quality Design and Architecture team, utilizing Python for data transformation and automation to scale test validation and improve assessment processes for stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain a data infrastructure framework that is easily query able by all teams within HERE, ensuring efficient access to data. Strong SQL expertise will be key in developing robust querying solutions for large datasets.
• Interpret project objectives and requirements to create tailored data engineering solutions, leveraging your Python skills for data processing and building tools for product quality measurement and validation.
• Lead the design and development of scalable, high-performance software solutions using Python, Flask, and Django. Architect APIs and backend systems to ensure seamless integration across services and platforms.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical requirements, leveraging strong communication and problem-solving skills. Support ad hoc statistical analysis and sampling using Python for insights.
• Plan and manage development activities, document requirements in JIRA, and ensure timely progress through Agile methodologies. seamless connectivity between the JIRA board and the database
• Ensure high-quality development in Python, SQL, and web frameworks (Flask/Django) through code reviews and best practices.

Who are you?

You are a team-player who collaborates with developers, testers and product owner. A fast learner and are comfortable working with little direction. You take initiative and bring up ideas. In addition you have the following: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field with 5-8 years of professional experience in data engineering.
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL for building robust, high-performance data solutions.
• Experience working in Agile development environments, contributing to all stages of the software development lifecycle.
• Proficient in data engineering principles and working with large datasets. Experience in optimizing data workflows and writing complex SQL queries for data extraction and analysis.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., GitLab) and implementing CI/CD pipelines to streamline development processes.
• Knowledge and experience with AWS for cloud-based infrastructure like (EC2, RDS, Lambda, Cloudfront, etc), deployments, and scaling.
• Proficient in data structures and OOP concepts for writing efficient, maintainable code.
• Experience with Flask and Django for developing and deploying web-based applications and services.

In this role you will be part of our Analytics and Tools team within the End-to-End Product Quality Design and Architecture group. This team ensures that every solution and service we deliver not only meets but exceeds customer expectations through an unwavering commitment to quality. We focus on building and optimizing backend infrastructure, including ETL processes and data pipelines.
