About the role:

Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create must-have research, market predictions and best practices for a broad range of world-leading organizations. Utilizing exceptional research and analytical skills, a Senior Principal plays a significant role in producing pragmatic and provocative research which Gartner clients consume and apply to propel their business toward key objectives.


The Senior Principal will also lead internal research discussions among fellow analysts and collaborate with analysts across both Data & Analytics and our IT Role Based Products group (Cybersecurity, Software Engineering Leaders, and AI Leaders). The Senior Principal is a trusted source of advice for clients, discussing complex client challenges and offering appropriate recommendations. You will reinforce Gartner’s value daily by engaging clients via in-person and virtual meetings, sales support visits and our Data & Analytics Summits (our practice’s conferences). This role includes both writing about, and speaking about market trends, vendors, and best practices in Data & Analytics Governance.

What you will do:

● Create high-quality, clear, actionable, “must-have research” content in Data Governance. Specific focus areas will include strategy, business value, best practices, market trends, technologies and vendors.

● Research, analyze and predict market trends and shifts and provide clients, including vendors, with actionable insights

● Conduct research and analysis in Data Governance and adjacent areas while maintaining a view across a broad spectrum of the market, and produce innovative, thought-leading, impactful, analytically-deep, fact-based research.

● Apply critical thinking skills to de-construct and frame challenging client questions.

● Provide clients and prospects with actionable advice via virtual or face-to-face interactions.

● Create and deliver presentation materials for Gartner events, industry and professional association conferences, and client briefings.

● Provide high-quality and timely research content for peer review.

● Actively participate in innovation, ideation and research efforts to discuss research issues; Collaborate effectively with peers in the Data & Analytics research community.


What you will need:

● Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience;

● 8-10 years of relevant data governance experience.

● Applicable experience in an industry discipline and deep knowledge of the Chief Data and Analytics Officer, and Head of Data Governance or related business roles, as well as a market and industry perspective.

● Strong written and verbal proficiency, analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions.

● Demonstrate superior analytical skills while applying conceptual models, and recognizing patterns while drawing and defending conclusions.

● Ability to work independently, while being intrinsically motivated to collaborate across teams and support the workflow of others, in a multicultural global team.

● Strong organizational skills; ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high-quality deliverables.

● Demonstrate executive presence; can immediately establish credibility with executives and additional stakeholders.

● Subject matter expertise; Comfortable presenting at large and small-scale speaking engagements.
