Our challenge

We are seeking a highly motivated Business Analyst with expertise in Market Risk to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong data analysis skills, proficiency in query writing, and a deep understanding of market risk data. A Financial Risk Manager (FRM) certification is a plus. Candidate will play a crucial role in analyzing risk data, supporting risk management initiatives, and providing insights to enhance our risk assessment processes.

Additional Information

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Mississauga, ON is CAD $100k – CAD $115k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, document, and analyze business requirements related to market risk.
  • Conduct thorough data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and potential risks in market data.
  • Write complex SQL queries to extract and manipulate data from various databases for reporting and analysis.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to communicate key risk metrics and insights to management and stakeholders.
  • Understand and interpret market risk data, including Value at Risk (VaR), stress testing, and other risk measures.
  • Support the implementation and enhancement of market risk management tools and systems.
  • Assist in the preparation of regulatory reports and ensure compliance with risk management policies.
  • Facilitate workshops and meetings to discuss findings, propose solutions, and drive decision-making processes.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market risk regulations, and best practices to provide informed recommendations.

Requirements:

You are:

  • Experience needed 12+ Years
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in the Market Risk domain.
  • Strong data analysis skills with the ability to interpret and analyze complex datasets.
  • Proficient in SQL for data extraction, transformation, and reporting.
  • Understanding of market risk concepts, methodologies, and data sources.
  • Familiarity with financial instruments, derivatives, and risk management frameworks.
  • FRM certification is a plus, demonstrating knowledge of risk management principles.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

It would be great if you also had: 

  • Experience with risk management software and tools (e.g., SAS, Tableau, R).
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and frameworks related to market risk (Basel III, Dodd-Frank).
  • Familiarity with programming languages (Python, R) for data analysis and modeling.
