Summary


Anaconda is seeking a talented Associate General Counsel - Product, Privacy and AI to be the key legal leader partnering with our product, engineering, marketing, and IT and security teams, spearheading our efforts to serve our users in building trustworthy technology. Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, this is an opportunity to be an integral member of a small, rapidly scaling, best-in-class legal team that will have a high impact within the organization. This is a fully remote opportunity for someone within the US. This person will build a product counseling process alongside product and engineering leadership, ensuring the right-sized legal review and scalable processes. This person will also lead all of Anaconda’s privacy compliance efforts, with high subject matter expertise in legal issues around data flows, particularly with emerging enterprise AI standards in mind.


What You'll Do

  • Be an integral member of company-wide and legal team leadership, helping scale the business and the legal function at Anaconda.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for product, privacy, AI and IP matters while building out a high-impact legal team supporting the same.
  • Product: Lead, manage, and build out a high-impact Product Legal function alongside Product and Engineering leadership, including building out a product counseling and engineering advising processes that is scalable and strategic and deeply operational in nature.
  • Privacy: Build out operational and compliance related requirements regarding internal and external data usage, including managing external privacy providers and software vendors, leading process enhancements, and serving as the go-to escalation point for privacy related issues.
  • AI: Provide internal and external thought leadership regarding Anaconda’s AI usage among a variety of stakeholders, helping propel smart AI usage given Anaconda’s products offering that serve as the foundational platform for AI
  • IP: Own IP strategy, including developing a defined point of view on issues related to our open source community, our patent and trademark portfolio, and ways to communicate and operationalize the same.
  • Commercial: Partner closely with commercial legal to ensure product legal approach matches commercial legal approach and that data expertise on our commercial team is leveraged, integrated and organized effectively.
  • Partner closely with our Security and IT teams, including on all things data and data flows, risk-appropriate guidance, incident response, policies and procedures, compliance offerings, risk management, and other areas of shared interest and responsibility.

What You Need:

  • JD from an accredited law school and bar admission in at least one U.S. state.
  • 10+ years relevant legal experience, including multiple years of progressive responsibility in an in-house setting
  • Experience as a seasoned product counsel with expertise across product, privacy, AI, IP, and emerging legal issues.
  • Proven track record of scaling teams and leading sub-functions within a legal organization, including a focus on building operational processes, systems, and scalable legal solutions.
  • Ability to operate as an individual contributor and a leader, demonstrating a hands-on approach and the type of player-coach mentality needed to succeed.
  • A defined point of view on, and high proficiency experience with, issues systemic to data flows and data science, the rise of LLMs, and broader AI-related legal and compliance issues.
  • Passion for mentorship and team development, with a commitment to upskilling existing team members and driving the success of new hires both within and outside of legal.

The US base salary range for this role is $275,000-$350,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed in each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations.


Within the range, individual compensation is determined by various factors, including work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter will provide more specific details on the salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
