Job Title: Compliance - Senior Analyst
Reports To: Compliance Tuning Manager
Location: Meydan, Nadd Al Shiba

Unit Purpose:
The Compliance Unit ensures the bank complies with external laws and regulations across the jurisdictions it operates. This includes compliance with Sanctions, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) regulations. Key responsibilities include monitoring compliance with regulatory requirements, providing guidance, managing compliance systems, and responding to regulatory requests.

Job Purpose:
The role focuses on optimizing the AML Transaction Monitoring software, improving its effectiveness in detecting potential money laundering and terrorist financing activities. This includes tuning detection scenarios to reduce false positives, analyzing and setting thresholds, and developing statistical models to enhance the quality of alerts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop threshold setting methodologies based on statistical models (e.g., Normal Distribution, Jump Analysis).
  • Segment customers using statistical tools (e.g., clustering algorithms, conjoint analysis).
  • Model detection scenarios, test thresholds, and validate methodologies using tools like R, SAS, and Python.
  • Analyze and reduce the volume of low-quality alerts through data mining and statistical methods.
  • Monitor the performance of customer segments, make adjustments as necessary, and liaise with relevant departments for implementation.
  • Document methodologies, thresholds, and segmentation processes.
  • Prepare meaningful MI for management and support decision-making processes.

Required Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of reducing false positives and improving the quality of AML/CFT alerts.
  • Experience with transaction monitoring, FATCA, CRS alerts, and AML typologies.
  • Experience in data analysis, statistical modeling (classification, regression, clustering), and using statistical tools like SAS and Python.
  • Understanding of banking products, processes, and compliance systems.

Experience Required:

  • At least 6 years of experience in data analysis and statistics.
  • Minimum 5 years using SAS Enterprise Guide and Enterprise Miner.
  • Experience in system optimization, particularly for transaction monitoring detection scenarios.
  • At least 2 years of experience in data mining, text analytics, and segmentation/cluster analysis.
  • Experience in Sanctions, AML, and CTF is mandatory.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Postgraduate degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or Economics is preferred.

Certifications (Desired):

  • SAS EG certification.
  • R, Python, or similar statistical analysis tools certification.
  • ACAMS or ICA certification.
