Senior Data Scientist

This position is part of the Data Science & Analytics department. We are key to unlock the full potential of data-driven decisions in Aker BP to make Aker BP the first data-driven E&P company. Now we are building the back-bone of AkerBP’s data science infrastructure and building up a center of excellence around data science (and AI) with the responsibility to:

• Help AkerBP to implement Data Science and AI projects efficiently using the best and most up-to-date knowledge on fundamental techniques and top-of-the-line technology stack.
• Make AkerBP a data SCIENCE powerhouse which focus on solving difficult problems and share the knowledge across the organization and its partners.
• Challenge us and apply the best available SCIENCE and technology to solve the problems at hand.
• Be responsible for sharing your knowledge and results with the rest of the organization

Typical work tasks can be:  

• Running advanced MLOps projects in both development and production environments. 
• Contribute to both technology development and implementation of DS & AI solutions in production services. 
• Documenting and setting up best practices for DS and AI projects in AkerBP. 
• Quality assurance, risk management, and knowledge management of DS & AI solutions.

Skills and qualifications: 

• Education – MSc. Or PhD. in physics, math, statistics, uncertainty, computer science, or similar 
• Wide experience within data-science research or operations
• Experience across the AI technology stack, from UI, through grounding, indexing and embeddings, LLM and agentic structures.
• git, GitHub, Azure, MLOps
• Programming (a lot of our ML is written in python, pytorch, tensorflow, etc.)
• Agile and test-driven development
• Fluent/good abilities in English and Norwegian, both verbal and written

• a scientist's and a Bayesian mindset
