Data Scientist III – Supply Connectivity Analytics

Introduction to team

The Traveler Business Team builds and drives growth for our global consumer businesses—Expedia, Hotels.com, and Vrbo. This division creates compelling and differentiated traveler value for each brand by setting the strategic vision, operating strategy, and plan. Responsibilities include investment allocation and prioritization, P&L accountability, and leading cross-functional teams across Expedia Group, who are all held accountable to a single scorecard. 

This role will sit within the Supply Connectivity Analytics team, which empowers the business through data-driven insights and world-class operational excellence to measure and optimize supply quality and commercial strategies, drive booking volume, revenue and sustainable partnerships. The team is located across Geneva and Seattle, and works with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds across the globe.

In this role you will:

  • Proactively contribute to cross-functional teams, including Operations and Supply Partners, Strategy and Product teams to solve problems, and identify trends and opportunities

  • Identify the most appropriate solutions from a range of common statistical methods, analytical techniques and modelling concepts to answer business questions and improve Connectivity and Partner Solutions Supply KPIs

  • Prioritize multiple tasks and workstreams simultaneously and own projects end-to-end

  • Extract data from multiple sources, combining it into required datasets for model building or analytics

  • Present findings and insights to leadership teams, effectively communicating complex analyses in a clear and concise manner

  • Apply advanced analytics techniques to derive impactful data insights, present recommendations to leaders and stakeholders and contribute to the growth of the business

Experience and qualifications:

  • 5+ years' experience in data science or a similar field (data analytics/insights), delivering data-driven insights and recommendations to stakeholders of different technical levels

  • You hold a Bachelor's, Master’s or PhD in Mathematics, Science, Economics or a related numerical degree, or equivalent related professional experience

  • Strong SQL skills are a must, along with demonstrated experience of using Python (or R) to structure, transform and visualize big data

  • You have a passion for learning new frameworks and languages required for the task

  • You have an entrepreneurial spirit, hands-on and positive attitude and natural curiosity

  • You display a true passion for data and analytics as well as a strong commercial awareness
