Our challenge

We are looking for a skilled and motivated PySpark Developer to join our data engineering team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in big data processing, particularly using Apache Spark with Python (PySpark). Candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale data processing systems that enable data-driven decision-making

Additional Information

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC / Plano, TX is $100k - $110k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Proven experience as a PySpark Developer or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of Apache Spark and distributed computing.
  • Proficiency in Python and experience with PySpark for big data processing.
  • Experience with data storage technologies such as Hadoop, HDFS, or cloud-based data lakes (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Data Lake).
  • Familiarity with SQL and data warehousing concepts.
  • Knowledge of data modeling and ETL concepts is a plus.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and Agile development methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Requirements:

You are:

  • Experience level 5 - 7 years
  • Data Processing: Design and implement ETL processes using PySpark to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into data lakes or data warehouses.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze large datasets to derive insights and support business intelligence initiatives.
  • Performance Optimization: Optimize Spark jobs for performance and efficiency, including tuning configurations and optimizing queries.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, data analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
  • Data Pipeline Development: Build and maintain scalable data pipelines and workflows using PySpark and related technologies.
  • Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, following best practices and coding standards.
  • Testing: Develop unit tests and integration tests to ensure the reliability and accuracy of data processing jobs.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation related to data processing workflows, pipelines, and system architectures.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues in data processing and ingestion pipelines in a timely manner.
  • Stay Updated: Keep up to date with the latest developments in big data technologies and tools, and recommend improvements to existing processes and systems.
