Alarm.com is seeking a highly motivated Software Engineering Intern for Summer 2025 to join the Cloud Operations & IT team. This internship provides a unique opportunity to work on impactful projects that enhance our business applications and automation processes. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience with automation and a range of technologies, including Java, Groovy, JavaScript, C#, REST APIs, and version control systems.

Throughout the internship, you will be encouraged to think creatively about business needs, apply agile methodologies, and track your progress using modern development practices. Your experience will culminate in a final presentation at the Intern Showcase, where you will demonstrate your work to the team.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop business application solutions and automation workflows.
  • Utilize and integrate REST APIs for seamless software communication.
  • Handle and process data in formats such as Excel, CSV, and SQL databases.
  • Gather, manage, and prioritize requirements from key stakeholders.
  • Write and maintain documentation to ensure clarity and knowledge sharing.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge or experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Groovy) and object-oriented programming (e.g., Java, VB.NET, C#).
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, Bitbucket) and collaborative development tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize workflows.
  • Effective communication skills to articulate technical concepts to team members and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Passion for learning and applying new technologies to solve real-world challenges.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

  • Experience with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS for front-end development.
  • Familiarity with shell scripting using Bash or PowerShell.
  • Understanding of agile methodologies and best practices for sprint-based development.
