What can you expect:

As a Technical Traceability Systems Specialist, you will provide technical expert guidance to our clients and stakeholders on traceability platforms, sustainability data systems, and fraud risk management.

You will collaborate with key stakeholders to enhance traceability and sustainability data processes. The position requires deep technical knowledge of platforms, programming, and database systems, with a focus on supporting businesses in navigating and adopting suitable traceability technologies.

Your work will involve engaging with companies, technology providers, and certification schemes to identify, evaluate and implement digital traceability and data solutions, ensuring supply chain integrity and compliance with global sustainability standards.

Working with us is never routine so the first year you can expect the following areas to be central to your work.

  • Supporting companies and stakeholders to implement or strengthen their traceability capabilities. Providing technical expertise on issues of data integrity, automation, improvement in traceability systems, and mitigating risks of fraud.
  • Implementing and supporting a traceability and sustainability data sharing system for Preferred by Nature's certification systems.
  • Contributing technical expertise to traceability and sustainability data related projects or client work, to align with regulatory compliance (e.g., EU Deforestation Regulation) or other market drivers.
  • Assisting with secure data exchanges, analysing supply chain data for risks and efficiencies, and ensuring alignment with global data standards.
  • Collaborating and building partnerships with stakeholders, leading technical trainings or workshops, and creating resources to the effective implementation of traceability or data solutions.
  • Researching and providing expertise on emerging technologies in supply chain traceability and data. Identifying opportunities to incorporate innovative approaches.

Your first year with us

Within three months, you will:

  • Get familiar with Preferred by Nature’s traceability strategy and the traceability systems, tools, and services we provide.
  • Engage with internal teams to understand the range of projects and technical initiatives we are currently involved in, as well as the services we provide.
  • Assess traceability platforms and tools, gaining an in-depth understanding of technology providers and certification schemes while conducting initial technical evaluations to identify key integration challenges and opportunities for improvement.

Within six months, you will:

  • Contribute your expertise to traceability and data-related projects, support the evaluation of technologies, and ensure project outcomes align with objectives.
  • Support our clients in adopting suitable traceability platforms, advising on data or fraud issues, traceability-related risks, and other data integrity issues.
  • Lead the implementation of technical traceability solutions for Preferred by Nature’s certification systems, ensuring secure data sharing and interoperability. Assist with secure data exchanges, analyze supply chain data for risks and efficiencies, and ensure alignment with global data standards (e.g., JSON, GeoJSON, Blockchain).

Within one year, you will:

  • Lead workshops, stakeholder partnerships, and resource development to support traceability and sustainability data system implementation, ensuring alignment with sustainability goals. Develop technical documentation, user guides, and training materials.
  • Optimize data exchange protocols and system integrations to enhance traceability and sustainability data management while monitoring solution effectiveness and driving continuous improvements
  • Act as a key technical advisor for traceability-related projects, contributing expertise in database management, APIs, and geospatial tools, while building strong industry partnerships and representing Preferred by Nature in technical discussion.

Important that you:

  • Hold a Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing, Data Science, or a related technical field.
  • Have at least 3 years of experience in technical traceability, data management, or sustainability data systems.
  • Advanced understanding of traceability platforms, integration challenges, and supply chain technologies, such as blockchain, geospatial tools, and cloud-based systems.
  • Possess strong skills in database management. Familiarity with interoperability standards and protocols for data exchange (e.g., APIs).
  • Experience in analysing and managing traceability data. Familiarity with global data standards and traceability frameworks.
  • Have experience in technical project management, with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and an ability to provide practical guidance
  • Strong communications skills with professional level of fluency in English.

Would also be great, but not necessary, if you:

  • Knowledge of relevant programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL).
  • Are familiar with sustainability and regulatory frameworks.
  • Have experience working with multi-regional stakeholders in forestry, agriculture, or sustainability sectors.
