The Data Operations and Intel Division in IMDA is the cybersecurity arm that process and analyse data to discover trends and precursors to potential incidents that can impact the resilience and cybersecurity posture of the infocomm and media sector.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Security Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role will focus on designing, developing, and maintaining secure cloud data infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud computing, data engineering, and cybersecurity, with a proven track record of implementing security measures in data systems.

The successful candidate shall be responsible, among others, to:

  • Design and implement scalable and secure data pipelines and architectures in cloud environment (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Develop ETL processes to handle large volumes of data securely and efficiently.
  • Ensure data integrity, confidentiality and availability across cloud platforms.
  • Implement robust security measures to protect sensitive data, including encryption, access controls, and auditing.
  • Monitor and respond to security incidents and vulnerabilities related to data infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholder (e.g. ACISO) to conduct regular security assessments and compliance audits
  • Ensure compliance to Government policy and recommend relevant best industry best practices.
  • Provide guidance and best practices on data security to relevant parties (e.g. users, vendors)
  • Prepare and present reports on security metrics and incidents to senior management.
  • Implement monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and address security issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on security. Candidate with lesser year of experience will be considered for a junior grade.
  • In-depth understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
  • Experience with security tools and technologies on cloud (e.g., AWS Guard Duty, Cloud Trail, VPC, firewalls).
  • Knowledge of data encryption and tokenization techniques.
  • Proven experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Hands-on experience with data warehousing solutions (e.g., Redshift, S3, DynamoDB).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java.
  • Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Solid understanding of ETL processes and tools like Fluentbit, NIFI, Apache Airflow, AWS Glue.
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Apache Hadoop, Spark.
  • Familiarity with database management systems, both SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and security.
  • Willingness to delve into administrative, legislative, technical, research and development works.
