Job Description

Job Title: Data Engineering Intern

Job Location: 17725 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77094

We are preparing for our 2025 Summer Internship Season!

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Job Overview:

The Data Engineering Intern is an entry-level cross-functional technical position that will assist Christian Brothers Automotive in collecting, administering, and manipulating data to ensure business continuity and allow business units to make informed decisions. This role will leverage software development methodologies to automate data replication from a vehicle configuration database to a SaaS platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the data engineering team to understand gaps in the existing solution.
  • Build a reliable framework to automate the syncing of vehicle config data to SaaS products.
  • Test and verify reliability of data replication service.
  • Develop an understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and contribute to various phases, including planning, design, development, testing, and deployment.
  • Collaborate with the development team to scope out the technical requirements and implementation roadmap.
  • Provide regular updates to project stakeholders and contribute to project planning meetings.
  • Participate in testing and validation of the migrated process to ensure compliance with business needs.

Qualifications

  • Self-motivated individual with a strong interest in data and software application technologies
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Diligent researcher and a self starter
  • Ability to apply critical thinking to a wide variety of problems
  • Proficient in rigorous Quality Assurance
  • Experience performing root cause analysis to determine and resolve issues
  • Agile Project management and organizational skills
  • Experience with MySQL and SQL Queries

Experience:

  • Up to 1 year of experience working with MySQL databases
  • Up to 1 year of experience working with Python
  • Proficient in web tools, Microsoft or Google office suites and Slack
  • Proficient in Email, Calendar and task tracking software

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasionally bending, twisting, and turning.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Workplace Environment:

  • This role will be located at the Home Office headquarters in Houston, TX.

  • Open office layout to promote collaboration, conversation, and teamwork. 
  • This role requires three days in the office and allows two remote days
  • Travel is not typical

Base Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience.
