Job Description
Our cybersecurity team dedicated to enhancing security in an ever-evolving digital landscape. Our mission is to protect data, strengthen cyber defenses, and help organizations safeguard themselves against complex threats. We are looking for a motivated and curious Cybersecurity Intern to join our team, contribute to meaningful projects, and make a tangible impact on the security of Ridgeline, its people, and its customers.
As a Cybersecurity Intern, you will work alongside experienced professionals, gaining hands-on experience in core cybersecurity disciplines such as log analysis, detection engineering, security monitoring, remediation, and incident response. Interns at Ridgeline actively participate in threat hunting, vulnerability management, and security recommendations to protect enterprise systems and networks. This internship is part of our 2025 summer internship cohort but may offer ongoing opportunities beyond the summer term.
What You Will Do:
- Analyze log data to identify indicators of anomalous or suspicious activity.
- Develop detection logic to alert on potential security threats.
- Conduct research on emerging cyber threats that could impact infrastructure, information systems, or data.
- Evaluate external threat intelligence sources to assess risks and support threat detection efforts.
- Assist in log analysis and data correlation to detect suspicious or malicious behavior.
- Support incident response activities by collecting and analyzing relevant data during investigations.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of security documentation, policies, and procedures.
What You Will Learn:
- Establish baseline log activity for a customer platform.
- Develop and implement automated security alerts tailored to a customer platform.
- Utilize machine learning algorithms to identify deviations from baseline activity.
- Analyze log activity against known threat profiles and conduct investigations into suspicious activity.
- Continuously assess and enhance data collection strategies for improved security insights.
- Participate in cross-training opportunities to gain exposure to different cybersecurity roles.
- Assist in developing incident response playbooks and procedures for specific adversary threats.
- Collaborate with the blue team to enhance defensive measures against adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
Qualifications
Must-Haves:
- Currently pursuing a technical degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Ability to obtain a security clearance.
- Experience automating simple, recurring tasks using Python, PowerShell, or another programming language.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to conduct open-source research to supplement cybersecurity knowledge and skills.
- Eagerness to learn about cybersecurity threats, tools, best practices, and technologies.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts, operating systems internals, and security principles.

Additional Information
Internship Details:
- Ridgeline's 2025 Internships begin on June 2, 2025, and extend through August.
- Internships are predominantly situated at Ridgeline's headquarters campus in McLean, VA. However, in certain instances, remote work may be allowed.
- Applicants must be capable of remaining stationary for 50% of the time. Occasionally, movement within the office environment may be required.
- The role involves continuous interaction with computers and other office productivity equipment.
