The Data & Analytics team at Compass is responsible for enabling a data-driven culture at Compass by building a unified and scalable analytical platform that drives operational excellence, business intelligence, and data science use cases. As an Analytics Engineer on the Data & Analytics team, you will play a critical role in building and improving our analytical infrastructure. You will be at the forefront of helping turn raw data into meaningful insights for business stakeholders across the company.

At Compass You Will:

  • Architect and optimize analytical solutions that transform raw data into scalable data assets that enable robust self-serve reporting and business intelligence 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional business users to gather functional requirements that capture the voice of the customer and translate these requirements into scalable solutions
  • Partner with data engineering teams to architect data models and pipelines that support business intelligence and data science use cases
  • Help scale and improve our existing analytics infrastructure 
  • Define, design, and implement business metrics that automate operational reporting and self-serve analysis use cases
  • Develop and design artifacts (e.g dashboards, reports) that story-tell and offer actionable insights to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other Analytics Engineers on the team

What We Are Looking For:

  • 6+ years of relevant industry experience in a technical engineering and/or analytics capacity
  • Proven experience working with business users to translate requirements into scalable assets that deliver actionable insights and enable self service analysis
  • Advanced SQL, DAX and data modeling skills
  • Advanced programming skills in data transformation and preparation using SQL and/or Python
  • Proven experience in data wrangling and developing visualizations with tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Looker, etc
  • Experience working with cloud based data lakehouses (e.g Databricks, Redshift) 
  • Strong understanding of data modeling and software engineering best practices
  • Preferred experience with a programming language (Python, PySpark, R, Scala, etc)
  • Growth mindset, self-starter with a desire to continually learn and improve
  • Team player, willingness to work within a collaborative team environment
  • Passion for solving challenging, complex problems in a fast-paced & sometimes ambiguous environment
