[Interim] Data Management Expert (Architect)

Job Description: 

For our client operating in the retail industry, we seek a Data Management Expert (Architect)  to lead and implement enterprise-wide data governance, data quality, and security strategies. This role requires deep expertise in data architecture, governance frameworks, and security best practices to ensure the integrity, reliability, and compliance of organizational data assets. The ideal candidate will work closely with business and technical stakeholders to establish data stewardship, enforce data policies, and drive data-driven decision-making. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Data Governance & Strategy 

• Define and implement enterprise data governance frameworks, aligning with the DAMA-DMBOK methodology. 

• Establish data stewardship models and ownership structures to ensure accountability and compliance. 

• Develop and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures. 

• Lead data cataloging, classification, and metadata management initiatives. 

• Ensure compliance with data privacy and regulatory requirements (GDPR, CCPA, ISO 27001, etc.). 

Data Quality & Security 

• Implement data quality assessment frameworks focusing on accuracy, completeness, and consistency. 

• Define and execute data quality monitoring and remediation processes. 

• Design and enforce role-based access control (RBAC) and security policies in cloud and hybrid environments. 

• Manage data-sharing agreements and data contracts to ensure secure and compliant data exchange. 

• Collaborate with IT security teams to establish data security best practices and risk mitigation strategies. 

Stakeholder Management & Business Engagement 

• Engage with business leaders, data stewards, and technical teams to align data management strategies with business goals. 

• Provide expert guidance on data architecture, governance, and security frameworks. 

• Lead data governance working groups and facilitate cross-functional collaboration. 

• Develop training and communication programs to promote data governance best practices across the organization. 

Agile & Project Execution 

• Drive data governance and data management initiatives using Agile methodologies. 

• Collaborate with IT and data teams to design and implement scalable data architectures. 

• Lead data governance and security projects to improve data reliability, compliance, and operational efficiency. 

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data management, data architecture, and data governance. 

• Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks (DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM) and best practices. 

• Hands-on experience in data quality frameworks, metadata management, and data security. 

• Expertise in data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, ISO 27001) and compliance frameworks. 

• Deep understanding of cloud data security and access control models (RBAC, ABAC, Zero Trust). 

• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and business audiences. 

• Experience with Agile methodologies and leading data governance projects. 

• Proficiency in data cataloging, classification, and governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation). 

Education and Certifications required:  

• Data Governance & Management Certifications: CDMP - From DAMA International, DCAM Certification - From the EDM , Collibra Data Governance & Stewardship Certification 

• Compliance & Security Certifications: CIPP/E (Certified Information Privacy Professional Europe) , ISO 27001 Lead Implementer.

• Cloud & Technology Certifications:  Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate
