THE CHINESE MEDICINE HOSPITAL OF HONG KONG

The Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong (CMHHK) is a flagship Chinese medicine (CM) institution leading the development of CM including Chinese medicines (CMs) in Hong Kong. The CMHHK adopts a public-private partnership model. The HKSAR Government has financed the construction and selected the Hong Kong Baptist University as the contractor to incorporate the HKBU Chinese Medicine Hospital Company Limited as the operator to manage, operate and maintain the CMHHK.  

The CMHHK is targeted to commence hospital services by phases at the end of 2025. The CMHHK aims to offer comprehensive CM care, ranging from primary, secondary to tertiary services, and promote advanced and specialised CM services.  The CMHHK will pioneer integrated Chinese-western medicine (ICWM) services to cater to different patient needs.  Inpatient, day-patient, and outpatient treatments and also community services will be offered by the CMHHK. Both Government-subsidised services and add-on market-oriented services will be provided to ensure accessibility and to meet the diverse healthcare needs of the community.

With a view to prioritising education, training, innovation and research, including collaboration with local and overseas universities to advance evidence-based clinical research and develop CM theories and clinical applications, the CMHHK is now looking for the following talent to join our team.

Analyst Programmer (Information Technology) (24250045)

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Manager (Information Technology), the Analyst Programmer (Information Technology) will analyze, design, and implement IT systems and solutions to meet CMHHK’s business requirements and enhance operational efficiency.  Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage the BI System: Oversee BIS, including data injection, transformation, and generating operational and management reports;
  • Fulfil Reporting Requirements: Ensure the fulfilment of reporting requirements from the government and all regulatory bodies;
  • Develop Data Pipelines: Create and maintain data pipelines to ensure seamless data flow from various sources into BIS;
  • Design Data Transformation Processes: Implement data transformation processes to convert raw data into meaningful insights;
  • Generate Reports: Produce and distribute regular operational and management reports to stakeholders;
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work with stakeholders to understand reporting needs and design custom reports to meet those requirements;
  • Provide User Training: Deliver training and skill transfer to ensure effective use of the BIS;
  • Generate Ad-Hoc Reports: Create ad-hoc reports based on user requests and organizational needs;
  • Monitor System Performance: Track the performance and accuracy of the BIS, addressing any issues promptly;
  • Maintain Documentation: Document data processes, report generation procedures, and system configurations comprehensively;
  • Stay Current: Keep up-to-date with emerging BI technologies and industry trends to recommend and implement improvements to the BI system;
  • Coordinate Development Activities: Oversee BIS development activities, data migration processes, reports preparation, and system testing procedures to ensure BIS quality and operational readiness;
  • Perform On-Call Duties: Provide on-call support to address urgent IT issues;
  • Integrate Machine Learning Models: Develop and integrate machine learning models to enhance data analysis and predictive capabilities within BIS;
  • Collaborate on ML Projects: Work with data scientists and other stakeholders to understand machine learning needs and implement solutions that support business objectives.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Science or related disciplines;
  • At least six years of relevant work experience in IT business intelligence, data analysis, or a similar role;
  • Experience in Chinese Medicine clinics, hospitals, or a healthcare setting is preferred;
  • Good understanding of hospital clinical and non-clinical processes is essential;
  • Proficiency in BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, QlikView), data management and analysis systems (e.g., SQL, Python and/or R);
  • Experience with ETL tools and processes;
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and technologies;
  • Experience in developing and deploying machine learning models;
  • Strong understanding of statistical analysis and predictive modelling;
  • Experience with data injection, transformation, and report generation;
  • Familiarity with regulatory reporting requirements and compliance standards;
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders and end-users;
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; and
  • An excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua).

The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract ending in December 2025. Subject to performance and the decision of the CMHHK, the offer of further appointment, if any, will be made by the CMHHK.   

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test. 

Work location: Kowloon Tong Campus and will be moved to The Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong in Tseung Kwan O when close to commissioning.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
