Job Description:

At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Data Scientist you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. Our work depends on Data Scientist joining our team to support CMS' mission to detect and prevent fraud, waste, and abuse across Medicare, Medicaid, and Marketplace programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Extract qualitative and quantitative relationships, patterns, and trends from large amounts of data using various tools such as Python, R, SQL, SAS and
  • Present analytic studies and findings to a wide audience including leadership, technical, and non-technical resources.
  • Conduct advanced research studies inclusive of policy research, analysis, and modeling and organize/summarize the information for use in supporting decision-making process
  • Collect, manipulate, analyze, evaluate, and display data using visualization tools
  • Perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and machine learning modeling to conduct complex studies, develop sound inferences, and summarize results using a variety of descriptive statistics
  • Implement open-ended data merges, data analysis plans, and perform complex data manipulation and reporting tasks
  • Develop, write, and present detailed technical solutions to solve open-ended business problems to technical and non-technical audiences

Required Skills:

  • BA in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience + 3 yrs related experience, or MA + 2 yrs related experience
  • Experience with Medicare and/or Medicaid data
  • Superior skills conducting statistical/analytical and ML modeling and analysis using SAS, Python, R or similar software
  • Superior skills working with large datasets efficiently and effectively incorporating quality assurance techniques throughout the process
  • Proven communication skills working proactively and collaboratively with Federal research, compliance, and policy staff and stakeholders to implement and enhance internal and external management reports and public-facing data analysis tools and data sets
  • Experience using statistical and machine learning algorithms, techniques and models and experience with assessing data integrity
  • Experience using multiple data mining tools such as SAS, Python, R, Tableau, etc.
  • Experience with fraud detection
  • Experience using data visualization tools such as Tableau
  • Experience conducting health care related research and analytics
  • Experience developing and presenting solutions to complex, open-ended problems
  • Experience proactively identifying and working collaboratively with stakeholders to resolve data anomalies, data quality, and compliance issues in administrative data
  • Superior customer service skills working proactively and collaboratively with Federal research, compliance, and policy staff and stakeholders to implement and enhance internal and external management reports and public-facing data analysis tools and data sets
  • Experience matching and merging disparate data sets
  • Superior multi-tasking and organization skills. Must manage multiple simultaneous projects and prioritize assignments and tasks accordingly, remaining flexible to changing priorities and new initiatives
  • Experience supporting data governance policies and supporting infrastructures spanning diverse stakeholders
  • Experience using MS Excel and PowerPoint for analysis and presentation of results

The likely salary range for this position is $87,419 - $118,273. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
