Data Strategist and Activation Manager
What this position is about – Purpose
The Data Strategist & Activation Manager defines the data-driven, multi-source analytics approach to generate insights that drive strategic recommendations and solutions addressing Marketing & Sales (M&S) B2C challenges and business opportunities.
This role is responsible for developing a measurement strategy to define success metrics and tracking requirements, ensuring that data use cases are effectively designed to enhance M&S processes, initiatives, and analytics.
Additionally, the strategist will design a data strategy that complements and accelerates the JTI M&S transformation roadmap, focusing on data ingestion, enrichment, and activation. Working closely with HQ M&S teams, this role will leverage industry, market, and internal/external data to create value, drive transformation, and improve execution.
Furthermore, this role evaluates data maturity across business areas, especially B2C, and co-develops data-driven roadmaps, collaborating with HQ and market stakeholders to build a data-driven organization.
What will you do – Responsibilities:
Strategic Data Planning & Development
- Identify business requirements and opportunities within M&S B2C function processes.
- Design data-driven use cases, defining KPIs and success metrics aligned with JTI M&S B2C goals.
- Develop a data strategy and define data solutions for informed decision-making.
- Create data toolkits and frameworks to decentralize knowledge sharing and scale data activation across markets.
- Establish data governance templates, including roles and responsibilities for MVPs.
- Break down data use cases into execution paths and provide clarity for data scientists/engineers on how to bring them to life.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Execution
- Work closely with HQ M&S B2C teams and key markets to drive the data strategy across JTI.
- Define priorities and effort estimates for data use cases to map roadmaps for releases in collaboration with data product owners.
- Collaborate with Data Analysts and Data Scientists to ensure proper execution of strategy and identify further data-driven opportunities.
- Leverage insights from data analysts to provide recommendations that address business challenges.
Stakeholder & Supplier Management
- Manage relationships with third-party suppliers, ensuring clear priorities, deliverables, and quality outputs.
- Guide supplier teams to align with business objectives.
- Support business functions in translating needs into data requirements, providing data-driven insights for informed decision-making.
Whom are we looking for – Requirements:
Education & Experience
- Degree in Business, Marketing & Sales Organization Management, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- 6 years of professional experience in business/data strategy within the Marketing & Sales domain.
- Strong background in data lifecycle projects, from building to deployment and monitoring.
- Proven track record in analytics implementations and business consultation, acting as a bridge between Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Business Stakeholders.
Technical & Analytical Skills
- Expertise in defining data use cases, KPI frameworks, and measurement approaches in M&S.
- Passion for solving complex data challenges, uncovering insights, and driving practical business impact.
- Strong experience in analytics storytelling, translating technical problems into business value.
- Knowledge of agile methodologies (DevOps, Scrum, retrospectives, backlogs).
- Digital mindset, analytical, entrepreneurial, and curious.
- High computer literacy, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software and technological trends.
- Nice-to-have technical skills: Azure, Power BI (PBI), SQL, and MLOps.
Soft Skills & Communication
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions.
- Ability to anticipate and solve problems proactively.
- Fluent in English (verbal and written).
- Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills, capable of explaining complex ideas in simple business terms to all levels of management, including senior leaders.
