As a Cybersecurity Engineering, AI, Innovation Intern, we are seeking a highly motivated and innovative intern to join our Cybersecurity Engineering AI/Innovation team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning to enhance our cybersecurity capabilities. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about AI, cybersecurity, and innovation, and is eager to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. 

Premera’s Summer Internship Program is June 16th – August 15th, 2025. To be eligible for the program, you must currently be enrolled in either an undergraduate or graduate degree program or have recently obtained your degree (within the last 12 months). This is a hybrid internship program on our campus in Mountlake Terrace, WA.    

Internship Projects and Goals:  

  • Assist in the development and implementation of AI and machine learning models to improve cybersecurity measures. 

  • Collaborate with senior engineers and researchers to design and implement Internal Copilot Agents. 

  • Analyze and interpret data to identify trends and insights to enhance current cybersecurity controls. 

  • Contribute to the creation of technical documentation and reports. 

  • Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions to generate new ideas and solutions. 

  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in AI and cybersecurity. 

    

What You Will Bring:   

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or master's degree program in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or have recently obtained your degree (within the last 12 months) (Required)  

  • Strong interest in AI, machine learning, and cybersecurity. 

  • Basic understanding of programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++. 

  • Familiarity with machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) is a plus. 

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 

  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities. 

  • Ability to work either independently or in a team setting and manage multiple tasks effectively.

The pay for this role will vary based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s geographic location, market conditions, and specific skills and experience.

The salary range for this role is posted below; we generally target up to and around the midpoint of the range.

National Plus Salary Range:

$43,200.00 - $90,000.00

*National Plus salary range is used in higher cost of labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska.
