Data Governance

The Data Governance Associate works to support the assessment, improvement, and governance of quality and ongoing fitness-for-purpose of data, ensuring adequate data quality is maintained so that data can effectively support business processes. Working under general supervision, this job uses knowledge of the end-to-end master data processes and flows to help design and implement a data governance framework to maintain a common, firm-wide data standard. The role will interact with fund management teams and Nuveen Real Estate business partners. The desire to add value and innovate with client focus in mind, and the ability to understand real estate and data governance concepts will be critical to success.


Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Governs the execution of platform tools and processes to ensure they are consistently utilized to maintain a company-wide data governance standards.

  • Drives the governance of master data by supporting & understanding cross-functional processes, system integrations and data quality initiatives. Collaborates with business stakeholders to optimize data flow, ensuring seamless integration and alignment across systems to maintain data consistency, accuracy, and operational efficiency.

  • Delivers advanced reports and interactive dashboards that provide insights into key business metrics, trends, and analytical requirements. Continuously refines dashboard reporting to empower operational and executive teams with actionable, data-driven insights, enabling informed decision-making and driving strategic business outcomes.

  • Conducts in-depth analysis to identify and evaluate opportunities for process optimization in master data processes.

  • Analyzes and evaluates master data management metrics to identify trends, gaps, and areas for improvement. Formulates data-driven recommendation to enhance data integrity, quality, and accessibility.

  • Evaluates the current state of data quality, identifying key issues and root causes. Communicates strategies and best practices to address data quality challenges, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with organizational data governance standards.

  • Responsible for the oversight of key data metrics and leads comprehensive data quality assessments to evaluate adherence to established standards. Conducts regular data quality reviews with business stakeholders.

  • Monitors and analyzes data quality trends, providing regular updates and in-depth reports to management on data quality performance.

Educational Requirements

  • University (Degree) Preferred

  • 2+ Years Required; 3+ Years Preferred

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of data or analytics experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of data or analytics experience in the real estate industry
  • Bachelor’s degree with concentration in Mathematics, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Business, or similar
  • Familiarity with tools like Collibra, Informatica, Alation or other data governance platforms.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Must show superior customer service by generating and responding to client requests in a timely manner as well have the interpersonal skills to interact with both internal and external business partners.
  • Project Management mindset, with the ability to oversee multiple projects & workstreams simultaneously.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Anticipated Posting End Date:

Base Pay Range: $70,000/yr. - $100,000/yr.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.  In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
