The Mission Systems (MS) Sector (MI&I) Manufacturing Integration and Infrastructure (A&I) Analytics and Insight organization is seeking a Sr. Principal Data Scientist located in Baltimore, MD to lead the implementation of strategic operations and program execution initiatives. In support of MS multiple divisions, the individual will be responsible for developing and leading complex data science projects, developing and implementing advanced statistical models and machine learning algorithms, extracting actional insights from large datasets, collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate data into business strategies, and mentoring other data scientist in advanced modelling techniques. This individual will develop and apply advanced technical principles, theory, and concepts across the MS Sector Divisions to support strategic planning, project execution, development of operational business opportunities, to drive schedule and cost reductions while maintaining absolute quality.  The individual will interact and consult regularly with MS Executive Leadership Team (ELT), Program Leadership, and supporting Functional Leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the planning, design, development and implementation of solutions to address ongoing business performance opportunities and performance improvement.

  • Work in a fast-paced, Agile/Scrum based environment.

  • Implement process changes to improve business outcomes.

  • Develop impactful predictive modelling, Monte Carlo simulations and advanced analytics models

  • Support cross-team development efforts for multiple projects, including data cleanup, ingestion, and linkage with other data sets.

  • Develop data architectures and data management solutions.

  • Document design, deployment and operating procedures for each work product.

  • Present data in a meaningful way to executive management.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field and 8 years of experience; OR a Master's degree and 6 years of related experience

  • Experience and proficiency with SQL and Python or R

  • Experience and familiarity with SAP

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in information technology, data science, industrial engineering, or related field

  • Experience and knowledge of SQL database management

  • Experience and knowledge and application of: Lean, Six Sigma, ToC, and Scaled Agile

  • Experience with advanced descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analysis techniques and methodology

  • Experience and familiarity with AWS Cloud Computing

  • Experience and familiarity with an Oracle based data warehouse

  • Experience and familiarity with Tableau

Salary Range: $144,200.00 - $216,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
