Job Title: Financial Data Analyst
Location: Blended arrangement of up to 4 days per week remote, with minimum 1 day per week working in one of FI’s training centres
Reports to: Finance Analyst

Founded in 2007 First Intuition (FI) is an award-winning, UK-based provider of predominantly accountancy training and apprenticeships. We currently have ~ 325 staff based across 9 physical locations and remotely, but we continue to grow rapidly. In April 2023, we secured investment from the private equity firm Apiary Capital who continue to support us in our growth plans, including three recent acquisitions of other First Intuition franchises.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
As we continue to grow rapidly, we are seeking a detail-orientated Data Analyst to work with key stakeholders across the business. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing key performance indicators (KPIs), conducting financial analysis, collaborating with various departments, interpreting complex data, ensuring accuracy, and supporting scenario planning and reporting. This role is crucial in driving informed decision-making and enhancing our financial forecasting and budgeting processes.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Development of KPIs:
- Collate, calculate and present agreed KPIs across the FI Group on a defined and consistent basis using all data sources available in the business.
Financial Analysis:
- Analyse and understand monthly performance information, the drivers behind any revenue and cost variances and support the preparation of mitigation and action plans to resolve any issues.
- Extract data and compile performance reports while assisting with preparing variance analyses.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with other departments to gather input and ensure alignment in forecasting assumptions.
Data Interpretation:
- Interpret complex financial and operational data to provide meaningful insights and recommendations.
Accuracy Assurance:
- Review and validate data inputs, assumptions, and calculations to ensure accuracy in forecasting models.
Scenario Planning:
- Develop and analyse various scenarios to assess potential outcomes and support decision-making processes.
Reporting:
- Assist in the preparation of reports, summaries, and presentations to stakeholders, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
Forecasting/Budgeting Updates:
- Assist in creating & updating budget models to reflect changes in market conditions, business strategies, and other relevant factors.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to streamline forecasting processes, enhance data quality, and improve forecasting accuracy.
- Help design and develop data solutions, including data models, data storage, and data integration etc.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Data analysis, interpretation and KPI development
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and software
- Excellent skill set concerning data analysis in the context of understanding the connections between operational activities and performance, and experience of using data to drive insight, engage stakeholders, and facilitate robust decision making
- Excellent Excel skills (e.g., charting, pivoting, lookups, and scenarios). This is essential
- Experience with financial forecasting and budgeting
- Knowledge of data modelling and integration techniques
- Strong business acumen and commercial awareness
- Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
- Self-starter
