We are now looking for a Data Scientist Trainee to join our Data Science & Online Analytics Team. We serve all business functions within Posti, including mail, parcels, warehousing, and freight. Our goal is to provide advanced analytics and machine learning solutions that serve our operational needs, business decision-makers, and consumer customers. As a trainee, you will work on a data science project based on your interests and skills. Typical projects include forecasting, optimization, and consumer behavior modeling.

This role offers a first-class opportunity to see how a large international delivery and fulfillment company operates and utilizes data within its operations. We have massive amounts of data for you to crunch. Some of the solutions we build directly impact millions of customers.

Key responsibilities:

• Explore relevant datasets and learn how they reflect the real-life business and operative processes 
• Find or invent models and analyses to solve the problem at hand – mentored by a Senior Data Scientist
• Build, test and deploy your solution using modern development tools and processes
• Collaborate with other data developers
• Share your findings with the data community and business stakeholders 

What are we looking for?

• You are enthusiastic about problem solving with data
• You are either a recent graduate or in the final stages of your studies in fields such as statistics, computer science, physics, mathematics, economics, or a related field
• You have interest in areas such as data analysis, programming, machine learning, and statistical or mathematical modelling
• While not required, experience in Python (e.g. pandas, numpy, matplotlib, scikit-learn), databases (e.g. SQL), cloud technologies (e.g. AWS, Databricks, Spark/PySpark, Sagemaker), and data visualization (e.g. PowerBI) are considered a plus
• Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders
• Fluent language skills in English

General Information:

• All trainee positions are located at our headquarters at Postintaival 7, Helsinki. We offer a hybrid working model, allowing you to work remotely as well.
• The salary for trainees is €2800 per month.
• Each trainee will be assigned a dedicated mentor to ensure a smooth onboarding process and a rewarding traineeship experience.
• The Trainee Program will begin on 14.4.2025 with a kick-off week and will last for six months. During the program, we will organize engagement activities, giving you the opportunity to get to know other trainees, Posti’s different business groups, our operations, and much more.
