Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD) staff couple the latest in information system technologies, such as elastic compute clouds, containerization, microservices, real-time operating systems, and visualization frameworks, with expertise in cyber security, software architecture, software engineering, data science, Artificial Intelligence, process improvement, and software development to deliver responsive, resilient, high-performance software intensive systems to our Intelligence Community, DoD, and civilian customers.

The Engineering Applications Department (EAD) develops a wide variety of innovative tools and applications to support civil, commercial, and national security space systems. From web, cloud, and desktop visualization to virtual and augmented reality; EAD evaluates and creates unique visual experiences that present data and analysis to key decision-makers.

Work Model

This is a full-time position based in Colorado Springs, CO, or Chantilly, VA , offering a hybrid work model that combines 3 regular onsite workdays and remote flexibility as the business needs allow. 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Support industry leading scientists and engineers in the development of maintainable cloud native and stand-alone data visualization applications as well as development of backend service-oriented architecture components
  • Provide technical support in application architecture and development, continuous integration and continuous deployment, middleware development, and software interface development for laboratory equipment
  • Work with subject matter experts and scientists to develop laboratory applications which enable modeling and simulations of space capabilities
  • Interface with a wide variety of Engineering and Technology Group (ETG), launch, satellite, and other program office customers
  • Foster innovation by staying current with emerging technologies and industry best practice

What You Need to be Successful – Senior Member of Technical Staff – Systems Software Engineer

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related STEM field
  • 5 years of experience in software development
  • Demonstrated skill in object-oriented programming languages. Proficiency in C/C++, Java or Python is highly desirable
  • Experience in Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment
  • Ability to work both independently, and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Willing to travel occasionally to customer sites domestically, approximately 5% if required
  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • 7+ years of experience in developing software solutions for engineering or scientific applications
  • Experience supporting laboratories with software infrastructure and application development
  • Experience developing microservices
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of customers and staff
  • Previous experience working with aerospace or defense industry clients
  • Current and active Top-Secret clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information access TS/SCI government clearance

We offer a competitive compensation package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business.  The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below.  Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
