About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist in this newly created role, to join our growing Group Data & Insights division. Our Head Office, located directly across from Southern Cross Station, offers a vibrant environment featuring a balcony, BBQ area, collaborative and quiet spaces, and plenty of natural light.

In this role, you will work directly with group and business unit stakeholders, the primary consumers of the data and analytics. This position is ideal for someone passionate about using their strong business acumen and deep technical expertise in data analytics to provide insights to propel the business forward. You will work across multiple projects and be part of a team that values learning, collaboration, and camaraderie.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Developing and deploying machine learning models for anomaly detection across a variety of datasets, (predominately claims data).

• Implementing computer vision solutions to detect duplicate image submissions and identifying objects in images for classification.

• Working with Amazon Redshift to clean, process, and analyse large datasets. 

• Deploying ML models using AWS SageMaker and integrating model outputs to source systems.

• Collaborating with different business stakeholders, data analysts and data engineers to deploy AI/ML solutions across Service Stream.

• Automating data pipelines and optimising model performance for scalability.

• Developing dashboards and reports in Power BI to visualise insights from your work and support business decisions.

About You

Our ideal candidate will have:

• 5+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or AI development. 

• Proven experience in developing and deploying machine learning models, with a solid understanding of algorithms, statistical modelling, and optimisation techniques.

• Mastery in Python for feature engineering, data processing, data manipulation, scripting, and model implementation.

• Proficiency in utilising frameworks like Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, Matplotlib, Seaborn, XGBoost, PyCaret OR expertise in computer vision techniques (OpenCV, YOLO, or similar object detection models). 

• Excellent communication and ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. 

• Bachelor Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics or Statistics or related field.
