Who We're Looking For

We are looking for a Data Engineering Manager to join our growing team of analytics experts. This role will be responsible for leading the expansion and optimization of our data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross functional teams.

The perfect candidate will have strong data infrastructure skills and proven experience of leading and scaling BI teams, strong project management leadership, and a strong vision for how BI can improve Syniverse’s products.

Key Responsibilities 

• Perform managerial duties such as hiring, mentoring, training, performance review, budget and resource control, etc 

• Build cross-functional relationships with Data Scientists, Product Managers and Software Engineers to understand data needs and deliver on those needs. 

• Manage data warehouse plans across a product vertical. 

• Drive the design, building, and launching of new data models and data pipelines in production. 

• Drive data quality across the product vertical and related business areas. 

• Manage the delivery of high impact dashboards and data visualizations. 

• Define and manage SLA’s for all data sets and processes running in production. 

• Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture  

• Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements  

• Proactively identify and lead the design and implementation of internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.  

• Partner with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data, and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs  

• Become an SME in Data Engineering and mentor peers on appropriate technical methodologies and implementations  

 

 

 

Experience, Education, and Certifications:  

• Bachelors degree in Engineering in Computer Science/ Electronics or equivalent. 

• 10+ years of Software Development Experience, Software Engineering/QA experience, 

• At least  4+ years experience working in a telecom domain environment preferred in a lead role. 

• Experience in Java and J2EE . 

• Extensive Experience in Software design and architecture of Enterprise systems. 

• Experience/ Knowledge of Telecom domain highly preferred. 

• Experience working with Cross-functional teams – QA, Operations, Product and Program Managers. 

• Extensive experience designing, developing, implementing and supporting  applications on at least two of the following Operating Systems: UNIX, Windows. 

• Experience in capturing Requirements interfacing with the Customers/ Product/ Program Managers; define delivery plan; define scope and project plan. 

 

 

Additional Requirements:  

• Good analytical and problem solving skills Good Knowledge of SDLC . 

• Knowledge of RDBMS concepts. 

• Excellent analytical, multitasking, and communication skills (both verbal and written). 

• Detail orientation and familiar with analysis and troubleshooting techniques. 

• Strong leadership, decision making, team building, and conflict resolution skills. 

• Project, Resource Management Skills. 

• Experience working with teams in diverse geographic locations. 

• Extensive Experience working in telecommunications and wireless industry knowledge. 

• Experience using a source code management tool. 

• System architecture experience. 

• Statistical and benchmark testing experience. 

• Strong understanding of GSM standards and testing methods preferred. 

• Good knowledge of Billing/Roaming/SMS/MMS technologies preferred. 

• Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux and Oracle – Mandatory. 

• Strong analytical, business logic and problem resolution skills.
